Question & possible bug

Post by Patrick »

First I am in CloakWood Mines level four and after I cleared out level three I went back a few times to sell equipment. I have the Dwarf Yelsick in my party and like every second he runes up to join the party and then leave it again. I want him because he is based in this region and he is someqhat quest related but he gets me killed or I have to leave behind altogether. Is this a bug.

Also, from this site I downloaded the TotSC patch, this may fix it. Also since I have IceWind Dale 2 (which I think uses directX9 should I bother with the directX patch at all. Its on this site in downloads?

Thanks

Major problem now

I ran into a big problem. From where I left off, I downloaded the BG patch and installed it, stupid since it was not the TotSC patch. So I download and install the TotSC patch. then I try and run the game and I get this meassage that says

Assertionfailed in line D:\Dev\Baldur\UI control buttons.cpp at line #302

Basiccly I then click OK and it does not load up the game.
What has gone wrong here and how can I fix it.
Thank you, please for your help.

I still need help with the Assertion failer. Any HELP?
If I have to how do I go about reinstalling the game and patchs and how do I save my saved games and reinstall them. If I don't have to that would be great. thanks

I should reinstall BG and the BG patch, then install ToSC and the ToSC patch. Savegames stay on your computer during uninstall.

Just want to say thanks to Malta Soron, That helps alot, ah the motivation to do anything.

Sadly the only reason I tried to patch the game is because Yelsick keeps leaving and rejoining the party, Like every couple seconds unless left far behind. Well the patch did not fix this I am guessing that somehow its part of the game anf there is a message in all this? Any clue?

I'm not sure but i read on some site that the Yeslick problem may occur if you havent flooded the cloackwood mines after killing Daveorn(sp??), to do that yuou have to talk to a miner that will tell you to take a key from daveorn and bring it to him once you're finished, i hope this helps..

ah, btw, i flooded the mines but i still have the key...bug?

Yeslick the Freaky break dancer

In my case that was not so. It was before I even fought or seen Daveorn and left to sell stuff. All through the lowwer levels. I think Yeslick the old dwarf is having a nervous breakdown about his mine. I ended up with the key (plug) too. After I flooded the mines Yeslick was then a normal NPC that I could drop or acsept without hinderance. His grief was subsided? Anyway...........
