feats for elf and druid

Post by Warden »

Hello,

I am a newbie to ToEE and just started creating my characters. I wanted to create an Elven Druid with the hope that the Elven feat of Martial bow would carry over to the druid character. But after creating the character I did not see longbow listed as a feat for my character. Do I have to multiclass as a Ranger or somesuch class? I was hoping to avoid multiclassing. Can a druid use the longbow in ToEE/DD ruleset? Thank you for your help. I have been reading these boards for a while and have enjoyed the comments and advice.

By the rules, an elf should get both long sword and long bow proficiency regardless of the class they choose. Are you sure you can't use it? Have you tried to equip it? I'm not sure that long bow will necessarily show up as a proficiency under the feats. It might show up something like Elf Weapon Proficiency or similar.

If it turns out that an Elf Druid can't use the long bow, then this should be reported as a bug.

Elven Druids should have the foolowing Profs. listed :

Simple weapon Proficiency Druid

This is for Club, Dagger, Dart, Quarterstaff & Sling
All Druids get these.

Simple weapon Proficiency Elf

This is for Longsword, Rapier, longbow & Shortbow.
All Elves get these.

Martial weapon Proficiency Scimitar

All Druids can use scimitrars

Martial weapon Proficiency Longspear

This is for Longspear, Spear & Shortspear.
All Druids get these.

Armor Proficiency Druid

This is for Padded, Leather, Studded, Hide Armors & Wooden shields. If you multiclass you can still only use these armors.

Thank you both for your responses. That was the list I saw when viewing my character. But, shouldn't Elves receive the Martial Weapon Proficiency feats for the longsword, rapier, longbow and shortbow as bonus feats? Is this a bug or am I not understanding the rules correctly? Thanks again.

There is a script error in the feats section. It says
Simple weapon Proficiency Elf
when is should say "Martial weapon proficiency Elf" instead. But relax, if you play an elven wizard or druid the game let's you correctly use Longsword, Rapier, Longbow & Shortbow.

However, the rules only state that you are proficient and can use them without penalties, you don't get extra bonuses with these weapons. For that you would have to chose feats like Wpn Focus for each individual weapon.

Have Fun :) :) :)
