kensai/mage combo not work?

I read some of the "perfect team" pages and soloing in SoA and decided to try out the Kensai/mage character. But from what I've read in the game the section on experience cap is wrong, to achive level 9 my kensai needed 250000 not 135000 and the total experence cap was 2,000,000 not 2,950,000. If I am right this means that you can not reach level 8 as a mage. I am reletively new to this kind of stuff and don't know much in depth stuff an answer would be very good. Also what good is lore? Thanks

Lore is what you know from your head.
And yes you are right about the XP, but you will get 8th lvl spells, if you dual class at lvl 9.

If lore is what you know from you're head how does this effect the game?

And does that mean that it doesn't matter how many points you go over the level 9 thing when you change from L8 to L9 before you dual class? I just don't want to spend ages playing the game and not get L8 spells.

Every magical item has a minimum Lore requirement. If you meet that requirement, you automatically identify it when you right-click the item to read the description.

Nothing vital (shops, Identify or the Glasses will do the same even better), but it's often handy. Saves you having to Identify +1 stuff and the like (which has low requirements).
