Favored Weapon Question

Post by Raumoheru »

over at the ToEE forums they recomended me to get NWN so i tried it out and loved it. i like solo games with one kick ass char...

but i wanted a monk/weapon master to be that one uber powerfull char but there is a slight problem, i cant choose unarmed strike as a favored weapon!

is there something i am doin wrong or is it just not possible to have it as a favored weapon? i mean come on u can focus and specialize in it, why not favor it??

You are not doing anything wrong.

As far as I know and have tested (and what I can decipher from the maunals description) the favored weapon have to be a meele weapon and as such can't be unarmed strike.

It is meele yes, but the "hands/feet" aren't weapons per se.

Weapons are something created for the intent of causing damage, other then using "unarmed" combat. (at least that is how it is handled in the game)

One could argue that for instance, using the monk gloves in the game should constitue a weapon, so you could use unarmed as favored, but alas, it isn't implemented so.

So you have to use a weapon (other then unarmed) for your Weapon Master.

Happy hunting :)

You know what sucks?
I played HotU (just finished), and the original NWN with the same character.
I had a fighter (human). I didnt multi-class him. Just a fighter. For every level.
I finished HotU and never got the chance to weapon master him. As a matter of fact, I didnt qualify for ANYTHING. LOL. He's epic, but epic what? He's epic nothing. LOL. I missed weapon master by one intelligence point even though at every oportunity to up his intelligence by leveling (in the epic catagory-when it was listed that is), it wasnt enough. Sigh. I know I have to play online or something to get him leveled, but I think that sucks you cant at LEAST get one level of mastering SOMETHING out of the game without playing online.
Im afraid of losing character items online actually. If its anything like other online games it's hacked to pieces. lol.
