party question

Post by bobocop »

Noob questions here:

I am just about to finish up chapter two and a have a party question or two about npc's to take

my current party is:
me - paladin
coran - made a coran clone from bgI, fav npc
ariee
minsc
nalia
sir anomen

when I get Immie back, should I ditch Minsc or Nalia?

question 2 (spoiler):

reading a bit about Throne of Bhall, why as a good aligned party would you take Sarevok.

Thanks for the time

Well...

Well, flavour to taste, but of the two I would ditch Nalia, since she's essentially redundant to Aerie.

The main reason to take Sarevok for any party is: He's a very good fighter.
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

I say, ditch Anomen and keep Nalia+Minsc. But that's just me :D

nephtu, I think you meant Imoen, not Aerie.

If you did, then I agree. Nalia is just a weaker version of Imoen (even if you do happen to get Imoen back at a slightly lower level).

Good advice, that.

with the sarevok thing, the guy is your brother and he knows a hell of a lot about the prophecy (which would help you in the long run). while you may not trust him, he is useful

Ahhh, poor Nalia. Taken right at the beginning she's going to be considerably more powerful than Imoen unless, of course, you rush to Spellhold. That means she's going to have access to those lovely level 9 spells quite a bit sooner than anyone else other than Edwin. Flame away... :D ;)

I'd think you're right. I ditched Nalia after the keep quest, though.. my main is a transmuter and I found her annoying. So I got Anomen, who I like (and is a great asset to my party). :D

Besides, I could never ditch Imoen..

Wealth of opinions is such a beautiful thing :D I personally don't like Anomen at all, but it's nice that there are actually people who like him.

LOL; I think you'll find a large number of people here who are not particularly fond of Sir Anomen....

Strange party to begin with, I'd say: No Bard, no Druid, but more Cleric, Mage and Fighter power than you'll ever need...

Well, either you like versatility and varied gameplay, or you don't. I agree that Anomen is really good (so who needs Minsc, Pallies and other Warriors, when Ano can do all the tanking by himself?), but I never liked Aerie. But that's more a problem with her whiny personality than anything else. :p

Me neither...I took both even though Imoen felt somewhat like Nalia's apprentice. Nalia gets a new sound set in ToB (most characters do) and she seems to have developed a sinister side -- I seem to remember reading somewhere that there were plans to have her slip from her alignment, which would have made a nice antidote to all the redemption that goes on.

wow!

thanks for all the opinions

i got to spellhold, i was planning on not taking immy back
i didn't have the heart to do it after the conversation i had with her. one of my possible responses when she wants to join back up was something like:
due to party balance, i can't accept you, can you make it back on your own?
you got to be one heartless prick to tell her to go away after all the torture she's gone through.
i decided to tell nalia to take a hike

XP-wise normally, depending on how many quests you've done... A few Thief levels don't change much, none will be enough IMO. Go with Jan instead!
