Nice kind of game (all new to me) - Watch for spoilers

Post by Luis Antonio »

First time I've dealt with this kind of team, hard to finish the game, but very cool.

This is the custom party that I've built:

Wizard Slayer (yes, I want it to be hard) melee, 2hsword.
Undead Hunter (yes, I want to kill undead) melee, 2hsword.
Archer (yes, I want to kick buts) longbow, no melle, sling.
Fighter Druid for spells.
Bounty Hunter for disarming traps and ubber cheese.
Fighter Cleric for ressurrection and summons.

Have you noticed no arcane magic users? I mean, this is a mage hater party, cause I think the child of Bhall suffered too much in the hands of mages, and after Irenicus having captured him, he becomes a bloodthirsty mage hunter. Then you have the UH for Lich slaying, the Archer for arrows backup, the bounty hunter for scouting and traps, the F/C for ressurrections and buffs.

Very nice game, very hard to defeat Kuroisan, cause no buffs could be removed fast (needed to use potion swap) and Improved Irenicus gave me more trouble than he was supposed to. Now I'm heading to ToB, after imprisioning the Demogorgon forever (I had not enough traps to slay him on a single hit :( )

Time to deal with Improved Sendai... :D

Very proud...

Nice game :)

I enjoy themed parties very much and currently have two games going. One is a paladin party consisting of Undead Hunter (me), Keldorn, Anomen, and Mazzy. The other is a "hippy" party of nature lovers with Totemic Druid (me), Jaheira, Cernd, and Valygar.

Other themes that I have used are:

The Girls: Cleric, Mazzy, Imoen, Aerie, and Nalia

Evil Party: Asassin, Korgan, Edwin, Viconia

Luis Antonio, that sounds like an interesting game. The next time I play, I plan to use some MODs I've never tried before and try to come up with a good theme for my party. (It's not easy when I have already used the themes that appealed to me.) :)

I don't know. As "themes" go, those seem kind of lame to me, especially "The Girls". I mean, would you play a party called "The Boys" (or "The Good Party")? What would make it so special? Just because they're all guys or all girls, so what? :) As an alternative, if you used a theme like "Mean Girls" or something, THAT would be special. :)

I've got an all-girl party right now :D

Arky (PC kensai-mage), Imoen, Chloe, Tashia, Jaheira and Mazzy. It's definitely an overpowered party, but it's a lot of fun to play. Imoen and Chloe are in a romance, meanwhile Arky is romancing Tashia... Kind of strange, but the interjections/dialogs are great!

@Smass, yep, tis very nice game... First time I play one... how do you call it (like your word for it :D ) theme game. Except perhaps once, on BG, when I tried to use an all-caster party, with 3 mages, 1 bard, 2 clerics and 1 druid, but that was a long time ago (and didn't worked out very well)

@Kaitsu, are you playing with Tactics? Then it will be very nice, overpowered but non-completely ****ty stuff.

@Von Dondu, it is cool cause you cant buff yourself too much, and it forces me to use different (non classical) kinds of cheese for many battles. For example, the cloud spells are deffinitely out of my use, so I need my fighters ready to bump the spellcasters nice and quickly. For example, to defeat improved Maevar was kinda hard, considering I couldnt haste nor inflict massive spell damage on the enemies.

BTW, even for a Wizard Slayer team, our friends have several difficulties banishing theyr enemy. The magic resistance of the WS is very nice at the end of the game, and it helps a lot, and using him as 'spell shield' is a must.

Improved Irenicus has been a storm, dark hurricane to beat, but a very unhelpfull enemy. I'll try him on hard or insane some day (playing on core).

@VonDondu

I currently am playing "the good party" consisting of: Undead Hunter (me), Keldorn, Anomen, and Mazzy

"The girls" is kind of a lame name. Maybe "Estrogen Power" would be better... :) :D

For me this party was fun to play for me because the idea of a group of women going around kicking butt made me smile. :) Plus I had never played a game with Nalia or Mazzy to that point.
