Hello all that help.
I am in Chapter 2, however any quest i take on seems to be a bit out of my depth, foe example.
1. i bumped into some guys in the sewers below the temples on a quest to find out about the eyeless or something, and they kicked my butt. Found some guy who gave me Haer'dalis took him home went through the watever and got my butt kicked. Also before this got over the bridge and guess what got my butt kicked.
2. went to the graves for a quest with Korgon, butt kicked.
3. Nalia......butt kicked
4. joined shadow theifs done first quest for their rival, 2nd quest.....butt kicked.

before i bore everyone BG brought u into the game slowly, however i feel BG2 is a bit more roam around more openly. is this correct?

Please help without giving to much away....love the games (BG,Torment) now got BG2, and ToB.

thanks in advance

speak to u soon with my next problem...lol

Hey buddy, welcome to Gamebanshee and don't get discouraged. I remember when I first started playing BG2 I had roughly the same kind of experience you're having now. (funny post by the way ;) ) There are several things going on:

the way BG2 is organized it IS a little easy to wander into some bad situations early on in the game. This is just a matter of getting to know how hard the different quests are so you can do them in the right order which just takes practice.

Another thing is that there are a lot of different new spells that your enemies are going to use on you like protection from magic weapons, confusion, lots of sunfires etc. I would probably recommend reading Xyx's spell guide but I don't have a link handy. It is a very informative online reference that can give you some good info about which spells can counter which protections and which spells are dogs. You can find a link in Xyx's signature or maybe he can post it (I have it in my favorites)

I would recommend getting a good thief or playing one (I like fighter/thief), keep looking for traps everywhere because there are some nasty ones, sneak up on enemies and backstab them, and steal stuff from stores to outfit yourself better (use a potion of master thievery or two). If you have Haer-dalis he is a pretty good pickpocket, have him pickpocket everyone around - they might have something interesting but be careful not to get caught.

I don't want to spoil anything but a couple of quests you didn't mention doing that are pretty easy are: the circus quest in Waukeens Promenade, and the slaver quest at the copper coronet. They are some that a lot of people do early in the game.

SPOILER************************
Slaver Quest
You have to go in the back rooms of the coronet and free a gladiator, then he asks you to kill some other slavers and free other prisoners. It is not all that hard.
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....

I'd suggest taking Nalia's quest carefully, room by room, exiting and resting, then entering again. Be sure you have at least five party members. A good group might be:

You
Korgan
Minsc (and Boo)
Jaheira
Yoshimo (or Jan, whom I prefer)
Aerie

They're all easily grabbable in Chapter 2. You should be able to find enough fire arrows to deal death to the trolls (and Jan and Aerie can help here, as well). If you can afford it, charge up your Cloudkill wand, and use it against the Umber Hulks. (I won't say more, unless you ask--this is getting close to Spoilerdom.)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
