The new install

Post by fable »

I'm crashing about every 5-10 minutes, so I save a lot. On the other hand, I've removed Wilderness Sounds 3.0, which was really gulping CPU, and improved my framerate by about 5-7. The new mods (*cough* 125 *cough*) are fun; I'm still not sure why some of those additions are even in Seyda Neen. There's a mage guild right outside the town, for instance, and I found an extremely well-dressed Argonian spymaster who engaged me to steal a book in Vivec--the latter being part of the Tarmar quest mod. There are several wonderful buildings right outside town that are part of the Armor of Tamriel series, which add difficult quests and truly fine-looking armor suits in buildings that would please any modder. There's a mage companion available, and the dialog's been spiced up, too, with a mods that add Speechcraft responses and extra dialog for some people around town.

Might just have to get a new CPU and the works, though. I really want this thing to blaze along, and that's just not possible at the moment.

lol! Sounds great!
As you know from my other posts, I'm in much the same boat. I don't crash but my game stalls and freezes for minutes at a time...
I think I'm going to be investigating more RAM this weekend.

Much as I like them I'm about to unclick my animal mods... The horses, donkeys, waterfowl and ravens add so much to the game but I just can't run them at the moment. *sigh*

Once I get more RAM I may just have to consider the extra dialogue options, that would be a nice addition.

If I can get my techie to call this weekend (he's working out of town on a consultancy thing for a month or more, and spending weekends understandably with family), I want to quiz him on building me another machine. Keep the new harddrive, keep one of the CD drives, move the rest into our backup machine upstairs, and do everything else from scratch.

Same with that mod which provides lights from within after dark, when you're wandering around many city exteriors. It's beautiful, but it's hell on the FPS. :(

It's been said before, but I'll say it again. I am soooo jealous of all of you modders out there that can play the game with all these additions. I play xbox, no mods, no solstheim, no mournhold, no nothing! Believe me it's fairly frustrating...

As soon as I get a normal, decent-paying job in my field I am SOOO gonna get a computer with every damn mod there is... :)

Most of us aren't modders. We use the work of modders. That said, I wish you luck in acquiring a good PC, soon, since it's a great all-around machine for work and play. :)

Aren't your parents paying your comp? Or are you at an age you don't live with your parents anymore.

Besides I don't got Solstheim and Mournhold as wel :( , but thats my own fault, I can buy whenever I wan't but I never really felt like going to a shop and buying it.

LOL! Let's just say that the only way my parents would hook me up with cash is if I either need bail money or I accidentally knocked someone up! :D

I think they expect me to give -them- money soon...

I'll have to go out & get me the goty-version so i can get the expansions, but i'll still miss out on the mods. Oh, & btw fable. I realize not everyone mods, but in the heat of the moment i needed a nickname for people using mods... I'll stick with modheads for now, or moddsters... ;)

Er, let's stay on the theme of fresh installs and how mods have added to the game, okay? :D
