It would be pretty cool if the game creatures did look like that, though the game's depiction of netches is quite nice I think. Last night when I was playing my character was wandering about the dark Ascadian Isles countryside and it was clear with both moons showing. Suddenly I rounded a corner and I saw a netch silhouetted against the sky, it was one of those "wow!" moments in the game.
I don't kill netches unless they attack me (which has only happened once).. but I was tempted when I came back from Cuba recently...
During my trip I was playing in the shallows because the sea was too rough to swim in.... when all of a sudden I experienced one of the most physically painful encounters I've ever had... My foot had made contact with a small jellyfish which put me out of action for the rest of the day
At that point I resolved to hack to pieces the first MW netch I came across upon my return home.
I didn't of course, but I came close

And if they did, the game would require 512 MB RAM to run without mods. I did kill several netches in the latter stages of playing a character--level 17, I think--when MW first came out. They offered no real challenge by that point.

When the one attacked me I was only about level three, so at first I panicked
*sigh* I'm hopeless... when I play RPGs I usually try to avoid killing things unless I absolutely have to...
@UserUnfriendly
*ouch* Nasty little beggers aren't they? About the only thing that made the pain bearable at the time was the realisation that it could have been far, far worse.....

I'm the same way. If it helps at all, I didn't attack the netch until it dropped low and started attacking me.

@Fable,
lol! Well I didn't think I was alone, I've had this conversation with one or two other people, but confirmation that you aren't entirely weird is always nice
For me, at least, I think part of it is that I'm rarely able to step out of character when I play games... When it comes to alignment I can go as far as chaotic neutral, but even that can be a challenge...
Occasionally, I would really like to attempt playing a game as a completely evil character just to be able to step into those shoes, but I'm unable to do it...

Oooh, sounds like you got lucky. Those thing's kill ya if you happen to wrap yourself into one of their tentacles!
I wouldn't mind a "morrowind man-o-war", a type of huuuge netch with crazy long tentacles floating around vvardenfell. It would be super-poisonous & could stand more damage than other netches. Anyone want to jump on it?
"Yes. Later on, I'd love to."

And now you're encouraging them to make a mod or something??
Hey, there are probably tons of people out there with enough skills to do whatever they want (almost), but the only thing they're short of is new, good ideas.
I know I'd appreciate anybody's good input...
By the way, there has to be someone in these forums that mods??
Any modheads??

Truly? I've been looking for someone to mod an oddball idea for a little while, now. Here it is:
I'd like to do a simple, written word-heavy mod, called The Thing of Many Answers. Did you by any chance ever receive a toy called The Eight Ball when you were little? You shook it up and visualized a question. Then, you looked in the small window on the side, and an answer floated to the surface. It was an absolutely useless answer, of course, but the object was fun.
What I want to create--with the help of someone who knows what they're up to--is a palm-sized, marble- or glass-textured object. It would be placed, with a fairly hefty price tag (perhaps 2K) in a store in Balmora. You would rub the stone--that is, drag it onto your character--and a dialog box would pop up, telling you that the mystic Thing of Many Answers was ready for your question. This, you would state, and click a small enter box to close.
Your question would then be reiterated on the screen. A few lines down would be a completely random answer from 1 of 50 replies I've created, whcih are guaranteed to be utterly useless and often frustrating. (I've got a short-short story explaining what this the Thing is, and how it came about.) For example:
No! That is to say, yes.
Yes! That is to say, no.
All our lines are busy. Please try again, later.
I...well...that is, I...
The answer is in the stars.
Interesting question. Let me get back with you on that, and we can do lunch.
Please restate your question in the Telvanni dialect of M'vhban'iar, using the future supplicative tense.
I see you going on a trip, a very long journey. You will meet new people, and catch new diseases. You will die...but then, you will miraculously return to life. I do not know how this is possible. I only say the truth. I cannot explain it.
Raise your right foot, and hop about for half an hour. Then climb into bed, keep warm, and call me if there are any changes.
Why are asking me such foolish questions? Focus on life! That, and a good pork roast.
I see....I see a mill. Yes, a mill! It is a very dark, a black mill. And inside this mill...inside...is...a miller! ...I'm sorry. What was your question, again?
(I thought it might be nice to throw in a few winks of respect at some of the best quest-based mods out there, hence this last "answer.")
As you can tell, The Thing of Many Answers would be absolutely, perfectly useless. It would achieve nothing, and could be used over and over again, free, for that purpose. What a joy forever!
*****************************
Note, if you're not interested in the above, that's cool. Quite a few people find this utterly useless, so you'll be in the majority if that's the case.

ROFLMAO!
This is my favourite:
Raise your right foot, and hop about for half an hour. Then climb into bed, keep warm, and call me if there are any changes.
I can just see it now:
player: "duh...will this increase my acrobatics skill?"
