Barenaked Ladies :D - no really, the band.
From "Feet of Clay" By Terry Pratchett:
"It seemed to be a chronic disease. It was as if even the most intelligent person had this little blank spot in their heads where someone had written: "Kings. What a good idea." Whoever had created humanity had left in a major design flaw. It was its tendency to bend at the knees.

Rock and Metal. I tend to like the heavier side of both. Death Metal is good to listen to. 80's rock like AC DC Megadeath, Metallica etc. Pudd of Muddle, Theory of a deadman, default, Tool etc for the current period.

I listen to almost every genre - almost only except Heavy Metal and harder forms of rock.
Don't care what anybody says, but growling with a microphone in your throat isn't music :D

So basically - classical, techno, rock, pop, dance etc...
I don't listen to much Jazz/Swing type music, but there is most likely some out there that I would enjoy.
Pudd of Muddle
LOL ;)

As for me I can divide my music tastes into sever genres.
I like some metal, but I agree with Xan - growling isn't music and I want to actually hear the lyrics. Tool, A Perfect Circle, Godsmack, the first three or so Metallica albums, some of Ozzy's work...
I also like what I believe is reffered to as classical rock. I'm an Eric Clapton and Pink Floyd fan ;)
Then there's also rock. Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc...
And while I'm not a big fan of mainstream punk, I have to admit to enjoying Coheed and Cambria, the Offspring, the Stranglers, Bad Religion.
A genre I've become recently acquainted with, but have immensly liked is what I've only heard referred to as alternative pop. An oxymoron, I know, but if any of you get a chance to downl.. buy something from Placebo or Radiohead I suggest you do so ;)
I'm also partial to some alternative rock such as Kidneythieves and Massive Attack, if anyone's ever heard of them.

Overall, I wouldn't say my musical taste is broad, even though I like to think it is. I wouldn't touch techno, R&B, or most pop with a ten-yard-stick. Not because of some ideological belief (which is surprisingly very often the case), but rather because it (surprise!) doesn't suite my taste.
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

by the way guys, its puddle of mudd not pudd of muddle, unless you are talking about private parts, which i certainly hope not.

as for me, I like underground death metal bands like hatebreed, meshugga, Slipknot, Lamb of god, devil driver, sworn enemy . i also enjoy a good, old fashioned slayer or pantera. i also like industrial goth music, (havent heard much but i still like it). and then theres the alternative bands that i like, Korn(favorite since 4th grade) a perfect circle, tool, Nine inch nails, alice in chains, rob zombie, p.o.d., system of a down and many more.

and then theres good old metallica, and megadeth too. cant forget my old pal marilyn manson (real name brian warner) wonder how his trial went. i guess he goes with the

i dont really like hip hop or anything pop, they just talk about how great they are, and what they do, nothing you can relate to. and theres a new rap artist every week. another problem with hip hop, is that it produces wiggers, and i hate wiggers! that one tipsy song was pretty cool though.

Well, I like to listen to plenty of bands, mostly rock, and I do like a little tiny bit of rap (usually individual songs of rap, not artists, so I don't buy their albums). There's: Linkin Park, System of a Down, I used to listen to Limp Bizkit but not so much anymore, Evanescence (I just love her voice), Godsmack, Staind, Metallica etc. I also like some softer rock like Eve 6, Nirvana, Nickelback, Billy Talent, Audioslave, RHCP, Creed, The Offspring, Puddle of Mudd, Switchfoot, Hoobastank....you get the idea. And then there's the occasional hip-hop/rap song I like, a few from Eminem, one or two from DMX, a couple by Xzibit, Beastie Boys have the occasional song I like. Oh yeah, I like Outkast, under the hip-hop category. Black Eyed Peas too.

Long story short? Almost anything from the current times that's rock or a sub-division of it, and I'll listen to it :D . Nowadays it's kind of hard to find one artist that you like a lot more than the other, because there's a lot of bands that are recycled and though they might have a few standout tracks, the rest sound almost like someone else's song.

I only listen to Polka Metal. Bands like Strangling Grannies and Chainsawed Wienerdog. I especially like the former, since they're really pushing limits, using clear influences from Death Tango and Black Dixieland. Some say they've gone commercial and soft, but I love the new direction on their "Live In The Orkney Islands" tripple CD/DVD/LP.

Same with me, though I'm also into classic rock. You'll generaly catch me with a Rush album in my Discman and a Beatles or Zeppelin in the case.

Mostly I like rock, some bands that come to my mind on the moment: White Stripes, Tool, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, David Bowie, Iron Maiden. Well you know what I mean, sometimes I like the haevy sides too, but it depends on the mood I'm in.

Classical, jazz, folk, rock. Classical: huge collection, and I review new releases for a magazine. Jazz: not fusion or "smooth jazz," which is just wallpaper, but the hardcore stuff, from the 1920s on to modern times. Used to review jazz, too, but I don't have the time any longer. Folk: Balinese, East European, and Irish. Rock: some newer stuff, some older stuff. My tastes are eclectic. It can be pure funk, New Agey, or something as old and visionary as Captain Beefheart. But if it features Britney Spears or any boy bands, I will probably shoot it. :)

And of course I forgot to mention, always film scores. I'm right now getting through a Nino Rota phase.

I'm also a big rock/metal fan. My favorite bands include (but are not limited to):

- Metallica (#1 favorite.)
- Godsmack
- Megadeth
- System of a Down
- Iced Earth (GREATEST European band of all, though they actually originated in the USA.)
- Disturbed
- Pantera

I also have an ear towards music tracks from games, like blake said.

I've been gradually learning to play electric bass, but it's more of a passtime than a big goal. My education, job, and family come first.

Haha....well...I quit playing my clarinet and piano two years ago....

@Galuf...Is Iced Earth like the rest of the bands on your list? Because with the exception of Pantera and Megadeth, they're all bands I love, and I'm always on the lookout for new music :D

Am I the only person that likes Evanescence here, out of the rock/metal lovers? I had no idea Godsmack was so popular either...only me and one other person I know really like them...
