Well what's your PC? I'm hoping some fighter-type. That's a lot of spells so it should be fun, and quite interesting. Good Luck.
And don't frown on Xan, sure he's depressing and can't cast any powerful damage spells, but Enchanters don't do damage spells they turn enemies against themselves. Well at least that's what I've always kept in mind when I played him, which was quite often. He's actually my Mage pick for a good party, mostly just because I love the Moonblade. And on a side note I'd like to ask those at bioware/blackisle whose idea it was to remove the flaming sword animation from BGII. Things like that just aren't necessary.
Wow, that's an original party. Like Skuld, I'm curious what your PC is like. If (s)he isn't a fightertype, Garrick will have to be your tank!
Garrick ? I'd use the cleric
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

Well, I am a little confused as to why you would use a cleric as a tank? unless they have a pretty high con/def and are well geared. They (in my oponion) are much better suited for spells; healing, hold person, bless, etc. and are really good for protecting your party, especially with hold person, IMO my favorite cleric spell for BG1. Those are just my thoughts...

But clerics are better suited to be warriors than bards, generally speaking.
Indeed, Branwen would be in my front line in that case. She'd usually be a second-liner, but the lack of fighters makes it difficult and necessary to configure your priorities. Interesting group assembly there, Friend of Yours.
The only trouble in losing Khalid and Jaheira, in my opinion, is the fact that the plot to SoA later doesn't fit, but that's hardly a thing to form your party around anyway.
