How do I get the quest to find him in the Dernholm pits/dungeon?
I cannot taunt the guards into throwing me into the pits (which worked last time - don't know what's different), nor can I locate an entrance by the tree near Gladys' house (as suggested in the walkthrough on this site).
I imagine I talked to someone or found something that enabled the whole thing.
Help please?

You only get the quest to find Tollo if you take the evil path in the game. If you just want to meet him, you can still get into the pit by finding the secret entrance (just a staircase) northwest of the town.
