Do you mean NPCs from your own party? They can. Wouldn't you have tried that? Or do you mean the other 'non playable characters', I suppose they could but no one ever did that with me.

The only time I have ever heard of stuff being stole was in the Drow city...in the bar/fighting arena area...it has never happen to me though. There is a post here somewhere about it...IIRC most thought it had to been a (One of the creatures that causes your magical equipment to disappear).

Weasel: you mean a Nishruu, or its bigger brother, a Hakeashar.

These creatures, when attacking, have a chance to destroy magical items. This is actually a bug, since they are only meant to drain spells from a caster's memory, and charges from items that have charges on them.

They didn't fix this problem in the latest patch, though. When you get in a fight with these creatures, be sure to check you equipment RIGHT AFTER the fight. If anything is missing, either reload, or use the CLUAConsole to get the item back.

In the port city, just before spell-hold a little girl bimps into you and steals 10 gold. I don't guess that's much of a problem though...
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

In addition to the Nishruu/Hasekar I think there is a thief in the docks district who can steal items from you. I only noticed it once and even then I wasn't 100% sure.

I had a whole bunch of thieves on the first floor of the Thieves' Guild each nick a gold coin from me when I talked to them. I snickered at that, that time through. Now I just don't talk to them. Although, I'm tempted to do the war of the pennies: they steal it, I steal it back, talk to them, do it all again.
