Grab ahold of that nothingness!

Post by Shig »

Hey, (former) lurker here.

I was exploring the graveyard district, looting the graves and, generally, being a disrespectful grave-robber. I'm looting this one sarcophogus, and you know those little boxes that show the individual items that are currently in a box/chest/corpse/whatever when you go to take the stuff? The first one was empty and the second one was some ring or something cruddy. I click on the empty space and it makes that nose that happens when you pick something up, then I proceed to collect the ring. I think nothing of it, thinking it a simple glitch that has come and gone. Later, I go into my inventory and there's an empty space there, with other stuff after it. I'm a guy who likes to be organized so I try to move something tho fill the gap, and when I try to put this thing down in the hole it says "this item cannot be removed". Right clicking on the empty space reveals an item info window, except it's completely blank. Foretunatly I had a save that was from not too long bofore so I reloaded, and the issue never arose again. Thought that was very odd, has anyone else seen this?

Only in real life.

HELP!! There's this air pocket in my hand and it won't go away. *Swings arm around wildly, bashes hand against wall, bashes head against wall,* Hey, can someone grab that jackhammer over there? I've got a situation. Yeah, that one, awesome. No, no, the hand, that would be my crotch. Come on, move it, let's go. Fun is fun, but - AAAAAAIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry about that ^^^ I'm really bored, won't let it happen again.

@Shig: I have seen it some times in my game.
IIRC a save/load should correct the problem, and "remove" the space.

This is due to two things. First thing, some items are undroppable, usually those items that have the immunities for the creatures you fight:

For example all Vampires have an undroppable ring that gives them 100 resistance to cold and Level drain, etc. The devs did it like this to save time, since its easier to make one ring and then add it that ring to the cre, rather then add each effect one by one, to every cre.

Second Thing: alot of items arent meant for players to see, so they didnt bother to give those inventory graphics, assuming you would never see them.

How it probably happened that you got such an item, is that there is a ring or such listed in the rnd treasure tables that is not meant to be there, probably very rare occurance, since I have seen this bug also, but only twice in all my games.
