Kensi/Mage combo question

Post by ghowthoo »

hey guys i have a question about this combo..
I am eagerly waiting to play this game if my dumb head would make up its mind on what class i want for my main character... my question is.. for the

Kensi/Mage combo.. will he ever have equipment to use?.. such as when i turn him to a mage.. will he be able to wear robes and such?.. just something that will make him look good on the outside.. hehe =).. i hate looking at the default way they look in the beggining.. it looks sooo plain.. oh and would a
berserker/mage combo work good as well? saying i get the best of both worlds.. if i want to be a fighter and wear armour i can just do that as the berserker and when i want to cast spells i'll just remove the armours.. sounds good?.. or ?.. thank you for your inputs!!..

A Kensai/Mage can use Robes. The Robe of Vecna is the best by far, but you need to get it from the bonus merchants. I remember DSimpson's FAQ at gamefaqs.com has instructions for getting them. Download Shadowkeeper and change the avatar from the fighter avatar to something else--fighters are ugly in robes.

Berserker/Mage is also great, arguably better, and if it's your first run-through I'd play that instead. IMHO the real advantage of the Berserker/Mage is using helmets (other than ioun stones), shields, and bracers, not in wearing armor.

As far as i know, u cant change th elook of your current state, this is becuase of how kensais cant wear armour. Also when a kensai mage puts a robe on it looks like he has nothin on him, a way to get around this is to go into shadowkeeper and change the paperdoll, but i could be wrong
If i ever die..........i'm taking you all with me!!!!

I'd hate to throw a wrench into your plan :P
But I'm thinking a berserker cleric would be the best combination since both can wear plate class armor and dual wield. Since the most powerful weapon in the game is a hammer, it'll fit in quite nicely. Plus, a lot of cleric spells are defensive/enhancement in nature, and will serve well to increase the attributes of your already powerful berserker.
As a bonus, you can roleplay a fanatical relgious warrior on a personal crusade to rid the world of good/evil

A beskerker/Cleric is truly devestating, especially due to the fighters low AC and the cleric's turn undead.
I've destroyed 3 liches (the kind you encounter when you are high level - not Kangaxx's lot) ín one go.
My beserker/cleric also cleaned out Bohdi's lair just by walking around with "Turn Undead" without ever getting hit or anything

Talk about powergaming :D

But a Ranger/Cleric gets you most of the benefits of a Berserker/Cleric with the added bonus of all Druid spells...

But not advance weapon specialisation :-)
Haven't tried a ranger/cleric yet, but I might, would like to get my hands on the insect-spells :-)

I've a fighter from BG1 with 21 Wisdom, wich I uses for these fighter/cleric, maybe I should replay BG1 with a Ranger :D

No advance???!?!? How come! Dual class Ranger/Cleric advances as any other cleric, i.e., 1 proficiency slot per 4 levels. Also, it improves its thac0 as any other cleric. Well, mixed class progresses slowly as any other mixed class character. I daresay the mixed class is a bad idea in this case because the cleric part of the dual class bests the mixed class in the end.

just try a stalker dualed to cleric on level 8 , when you reach level 8/20 you can kill alone any dragon in the game(if you know how to use cleric and druid spells well), i just finished the game with one of these (soloing) and it was easier than my solo-socerer wich i had removed the xp cap(with the stalker/cleric i respected the level limits

What he meant was that you can't get Grand Mastery in a weapon as a Ranger/Cleric,only Specialization, but this is not very important in BG2 since they've "nerfed" the Proficiency system,so there's not much difference between the two.
There is no knowledge, that is not power...
