Where is Tolgerias? (perhaps minor early game spoilers)

Post by jdougan1 »

Hi! I have just received a quest to speak to a cowled wizard, Tolgerias, in the main government building. He seems not to be there....nor are there any hints about where he might be.... I am wondering if this might be a minor bug? Or am I just not looking hard enough?

FYI: I am firmly into midgame (I think)- I have completed many of the side quests, and have accumulated more than enough cash to payoff Bayle (I turned Bodhi down) and go on to the next level. Perhaps I was meant to get the Tolgerias quest earlier, and now I have progressed too far for it to be meaningful... I have already removed the curse from Jaheria.

Anyway, I just want to know if I should keep looking for Tolgerias, or if in fact I have progressed beyond the point where it is meaningful.

Thanks!

Sounds like you are in a bit of trouble. Tolgerias can´t be missed in the government building....when you enter the building all you do is walk straightforward and there he is.....standing rather close to the cowled wizard that you can buy the "license" from.......(slight spoiler)

Tolgerias plays a mayor part in the Planar Sphere quest....I don´t really know if you can still do the quest without speaking to Tolgerias and going straight on to Valygar in his cabin in the Umar Hills section......if you can´t do the quest and you are a Mage you´ll miss out on a nice stronghold and some fun stronghold-quests......

To go further on the first answer, if you have done the Planar Sphere quest already (you know, the big ball in the northwest of the Slums District), you have killed Tolgerias inside. And someone who's dead can't make an appearance in the Government Building, right? (Well, only Neb, and then only his head ... nasty business! Image )

Hmmmm....very interesting. I have already completed the planar sphere quest, but I did it from Valygar's point of view. I found him in his cabin while exploring - without ever having been sent to search for him. From what you are saying, Tolgarias was supposed to have sent me to find Valygar first to initiate the quest?

It does not look it has mattered much - as I said, I completed the sphere quest anyway...

Can anyone confirm all of this?

That´s right.....speaking to Tolgerias in the government district will initiate the quest to find Valygar Corthala.......so you´ll end up doing a bit of bounty hunting.......I take it Tolgerias never showed in the Planar Sphere then????

Correct. In one of my games I entered the government district after completing umar hill and the planar sphere, and Tolgerias never appeared. After completing planar sphere I went to the government district, and as far as I remember Tolgerias never showed up.

That is correct - I found Valygar while exploring in Umar (while doing the Ranger quests) before ever speaking with Tolgerias. Valygar gave me the sphere quest - which I later completed. There were some cowled wizards in the lower levels of the sphere - but I don't remember any of them being named Tolgerias (may have been - just don't remember). As I remember, all they said was "We are the Cowled Wizards and we have been following you..." but I don't remember names. Was Tolgerias supposedly one of them?

In any case, Tolgerias was subsequently not to be found in the Government district - even though I was given a quest to find him. This seems like a minor bug they should fix - to whom does one report such things?

Anyway when you found Valygar and completed Tolgerias quest......Tolgerias and one of his "friends" (some cowled wizard that summons loads of animals if you don´t finish him off quickly) await you in the planar sphere.....so I´d think that if you met two cowled wizards in the Sphere indeed you must have met Tolgerias and finished him off....

What class / alignment is your main character ? I completed that planar sphere quest given by valygar (without meeting Tolgerias before) one time as dual class fighter/mage without having that encounter with the two wizards. I wondered about that, because in two other games (multi-player) I had always that small fight.
