Poll: Most useful summoning spells

Post by Blobbas »

What summoning spells do you generally use? I prefer Mordenkainens sword and fire elementals, myself.

Edit: Forget this post, SirKain has the same up. Sorry, SirKain, didn't see ya.

I'll kick ass in BG2.

Animate dead is great when you're above level 15. Those magic resistant skeleton warriors can slice most mages into pieces without taking any damage.

I generally don't bother summoning anything. I did, on my first run through the game, but now I'm trying to play it w/o summonings or fireball-type spells. Resisting the temptation to launch fireballs is so very hard.

The reason for this is that, in BG1, my standard tactic was to wander around with an army of undead (hate the nerfed animate dead in bg2), and have all six characters capable of tossing off fireballs (arrows of detonation and that sort of thing). Fun, but I want different fun.

Although, if you want an interesting summoning, go with gates. Mainly because the look bloody scary.

Invisible stalker is very good. Jahiera rocks with woodland being and fire elementals. But my favorite has to be Mordekainen's Sword. The sword attacks on its own, it's nearly impossible to hit, and it leaves a greenstone amulet on the ground after it's gone. Can't beat that.
