Spell Turning Loop.

Post by Cloak »

I have completed the game with four Characters thus far, and each of them had the Cloak of Mirroring.

During the quest for the Bhaal Tear of Fear where they can fight the beholders, I always had my PC fight them all alone. The game pauses for a second, then goes full screen and I can't control anything anymore.

When all the beholders are dead the games just stays at full screen and my PC just stands there, and nothing I type does anything. I can't even see the cursor on the screen.

Before the fight I noticed that some of the beholders cast spell turning, and I was wondering if some kind of infinite loop was created with there spells hitting me, returning to them, then automatically hitting me, etc etc.

Any help would be appricated.

Usually that happens when one of the elder orbs casts imprisonment on your char. Technically the cloak does not reflect this and since you're imprisoned you're dead(?)

Try casting resist fear on your char. and go the other way around.

You have been imprisoned by the elder orbs-cloak of mirroring doesn't help you against this spell.

Edit:you can try spell immunity:abjuration but i don't know if it can be dispelled by beholder's anti magic-ray.

Thanks. I always have to go around to get out of the area using Resist Fear.

But I don't think it was imprisonment. When I fought against the Demi-Lich, and he cast imprisonment on me, I agree that the game goes into full screen mode, but then the death screen comes up for me.

In this case no death screen comes up.

Heres the senerio again :

PC strides boldly into the fray. Is confronted by about 6 beholders. After about the 3 kill or 4 kill is when I lose control. The PC still goes ahead and takes out the remaining beholders, so that should rule out imprisonment.

If it is imprisonment, there is a special animation for it when you are affected by it (assuming you use detail in game's spell effects).

I still say it is probably imprisonment. I have had the same thing that you describe happen to me in the underdark fighting one of the guys in the soul sphere. The screen goes to full screen, the battle goes on until the spellcaster is dead, after the battle the chars. stand there (stretching etc.) yet I can't do anything except give the computer the three-fingered goodbye.

I had something like that in the Trademeet crypt quest, I entered the tomb without speaking with the mayor, so my game was in full screen mode, I was inside the tomb and nothing happened...reload...
