A bit of a let down in this game was that pickpocketing trait. I had Yo as my thief and even if I sucked back a 6 pack of master theivery potions and had 100%+ in pick pocketing I always seemed to get caught thusly lossing fame and causing a fight. I can only say that I was successfull only once with getting anything good and that was in the prominade district where theres a shop keeper outside up on the 3rd tier at the back who sells a scroll book. I used Yo to go up to him as if to buy something and I used the steal item button once I was in his buy menu. I stole that scroll book and saved myself some cash. Pretty lame really seeing I had put all my points in pick pocketing since the beggining, next time through I'll put the ability points into set traps.

I rarely get caught using Nalia with a couple of Master Thievery potions. However, the best pickpocket in the game (other than a player character) is probably Haer'dalis. To steal reliably from most stores, you'll want your pickpocket at 150-200+ or do a lot of saving and reloading.

So far the best things I've stolen are:

Ring of Regeneration: Pickpocket from Ribald

2 Harbringers, Spear of Withering, Several level 8/9 scrolls, and a couple other items: Robbed the drow blind on my way out of town.

I noticed that even though I think you can only buy one Harbringer, I was able to steal 2 and it was still listed. If I were to do it again, I'd see if I could steal multiple Firetooth daggers.

It's a little strange that shopkeepers in Amn will not accept merchandise stolen from the drow. How do they know it's stolen?!?

you could pickpocket Tolgerias in the Government District before entering the planar sphere to get the Ring of the Ram. While completing the sphere, you have to kill him, and looting his body you will find a second Ring of the Ram (very cool).

Also, think about pickpocket any non-joinable NPC or ennemy with a blue circle. That's generally better to fight an opponent once you took his arrows off...

I had two rings ot the Ram from Tolgerias. Also knicked the Ring of Wizardry from Lazok and the Helm of Glory from a priest of Lathander
