Changing Sorcerer's Spells

Post by Vainamoinen »

I was wondering if there's a way to change spells a sorcerer knows. Maybe through the console, or one of the editing programs? I hadn't realized they're limited to 5 spells per level, so I'm stuck with some kind of useless spells... (moster summoning II - It was really helpful when I got it  )

Thanks

Whoops. I should have mentioned that I have a Mac... No Shadowkeeper for me :( (not that I'd trade in my Mac, of course...) Any other ways to do it? Thanks for the pointer, though.

Download Shadow Keeper. It'll let you edit your character in virtually every way possible.

And check out UserUnfriendly's spell list for a great discussion on the merits of various spells that every sorcerer should know. ;)

[edit]A Mac?! Egad!! I'm sorry. :D I can't think of anything else you might use. Grubby Mac user... [/edit]

Well, bummer... I guess I'll just have to play the old fashioned way - without cheating...

And maybe that explains why I 'forgot' to mention the make of my computer. :D

Thanks though!

Thanks fnord for teh vote of confidence. but everything I know about spells, i learned from xyx arcane spell guide and playing only as a sorc. however i do submit regularly to the cheese therads, so I understand a little something about maximizing effect.

when playing solo, go for spells that increase in poweer with every level up, like skull trap and inc cloud.

go for spells that always work, like delay blast fireball, instead of save or else, like disintegrate.

O've already covered the spell removeal debate, anyway too long.

vain, find a post on xyx and go to link and download the spell guides. xyx knows his spells, and while I am more the cheese mage type, going for unintentional effects and proven reliability inall sits spells, he knows them cold.

good luck.

i'd redo the char, or relaod from previous save.

Locke - I'm not Finnish, just a fan of the Kalevala. Who can pass up an epic like that?

UserUnfriendly - As for starting over, I've played this character all the way to the Underdark, so I'm not so keen on going back to the beginning. :p I've got Nalia in my party too, so she can just take care of all the spell removal stuff that I missed.

hi,
while i was gathering info on how to edit gamefiles for BG2 (creating new items and the like) i sifted the net via search engines for helpful sites. i did indeed find a Macintosh site too.(you're lucky that i bookmarked all sites that i could get hold of ;=) ) so go to the following site:
http://ire.mainecoon.net

this seems to be the homepage of TeamMacBG - or of a leading member of the group. You'll find the IRE editor there (create new items etc.) as well as the QNDBG# Saved game editor v. 1.1 (probably the one you will need). the latter on

good luck!
