New Druid Abilities in TOB

Post by Drezden327 »

First, in a slight correction Druids get high-level abilities at 15th level.

They also get the following abilties:

15th lvl - Poison Immunity
18th lvl - 10% Resist Elements (fire,cold,elec, acid)
21st lvl - 20% Resist Elements (20 total NOT 10 + 20)
24th lvl - 30% Resist Elements (total)

Your welcome Yshania. I'm the boards TOB druid info source, at least til the game comes out in 2-3 hours! yes!!

Here is a question for Druid lovers:

Do you think you could get by with Jaheira as the only priest (cleric or druid) in your party in TOB? How about a single-class Druid (cernd or your PC)? I really like Jaheira, but I have one slot left after 3 tanks (Sarevok, Minsc & Keldorn) Imoen and my PC (fighter (9th lvl) dualed to mage). TOB requires a lot of Tank power so I can't really change anything else. Its either Jaheira or annoying Amnomen - who will level fast and have tons of high-level abilities while Jaheira is stuck at lvl 14 druid (plus fighter lvl of course)!!

I wonder if there may be any new NPCs other than Sarevok to pick up in ToB?

I intend to stick with Jaheira (alongside my Avenger) because I like her!

Cernds shape change abilities exceed Jaheiras in power and dexterity, IMO, but Jaheira can also be tanked. I believe you could also use a druid for the more powerful summoning spells, but you will lack higher level healing spells and turn undead without a cleric...(I have that problem now!)

If I had your party for ToB (though I have not read a lot about Saravoks skills - if someone would like to enlighten me ;) ) I would have my mages memorising summon djinni and lesser elementals etc etc and take a cleric. Just my opinion though... :D

I could send you my Avenger to try!

PS 2-3 hours??? aaarrrggghhh 2-3 months for me :(

Yeah I think you are right - bye bye Jaheira. Sarevok has 156hp and 5 lots of specialization in 2 handed swords. The guide says:

"Sarevok is alomst incomparable in terms of sheer power, with stats that tower over any other NPC in the game, and a huge amount of hit points."

In short, he's a badass. A must have even for my good party.

Will your reputation have any effect on Sarevok joining?

I will never have Sarevok in MY party, not after the bastard chunkified most of my party in BG1!! Hmph, my mage character killed him in the end with a humble dart. Also, though I don't really know the story behind his reappearance, I don't think it seems quite right to have the big bad guy from BG in my party... do you?

Well - if they are bringing him back he must have a purpose. I do like a man with purpose! hehe! especially with the stats he's got.

That aside - a good opportunity for revenge cannot go amiss. ;)

BG3 party will consist of

PC
Imoen
Sarevok
Irenicus (newly discovered brother)
and the bad guy out of ToB.

Hmmm - by BG4 we will have a party of six children of Bhaal - what a reunion THAT will be... ;)

I plan on finding that punk Sarevok, and sending him straight back to hell. Unless he somehow manages to ressurect Gorion, I hold unending hatred for that worthless Bhaalspawn. I believe in retaliation X 10, so by my calculations, I have to kill this slime at least 9 more times...

What bothers me about Sarevok, is that you *have* to resurrect him in order to be able to advance beyond the start of ToB. I kill him once, and there's no hair on my head that would even consider raising him!

I doubt you "have" to resurrect him. I just got the game and in 2mins I've noticed a lot of mistakes in the guide (see other post) I'm betting the "have to" take him is just another one to the list.

I always dump Jaheira in the first dungeon so she disappears permanently. I hate how every time I go anywhere near the Harper compound she goes into 'romance' mode, with that cheesy music that hangs around like an unusually stinky fart.
Take Viconia! With strength enhancement (belt, Crom faer) she can tank fairly well, and has good tanking spells. She doesn't hit often, but she hits hard. Skeleton Warriors, Aerials and Demons are also nice to have around, and her Turn Undead is amazing - she commonly recruits *all* the enemy, and I have to make them fight each other! Even though I prefer druids, if I only have one priest then it has to be Viconia.
Anomen is just horrible in every respect.
Jaheira has too few spells, and any multiclass character just won't cut it in ToB.
The shapeshift forms were fairly useless after the first few chapters anyway, and Cernd has crappy stats in human form. If he could cast while shapeshifted I'd take him, but it's just too restrictive as is.
My 'perfect party' for ToB is my protagonist (berserker/druid), Viconia, Minsc or Valygar to tank, and Imoen for thieving, whining (what are little sisters for?) and pretty lights. Imoen replaces Jan, but choosing betweem Minsc and Valygar is not so easy.
If only the pathfinding could handle more than four characters without driving me nuts!
