Post by jairus »

If say we just earn 3000 exp with a party of 6 characters

Do everyone character get 3000 exp?
or 3000/6 = 500 exp each???

Yes. If there amount of XP is not divisible by the number of characters in your party, then the extra XP is given only to the first few characters.

For instance, if you have four characters, and you kill something that's worth 37 XP, then your first character will get 10 XP, but the other three will only get 9. If you have five characters, then it's 8/8/7/7/7, and with six, it's 7/6/6/6/6/6. Note that this adds up quickly, and can counterbalance the ECLs of races like drow and aasimar. Placing your ECL'd classes in the first few slots will make your party more powerful overall.

When I finished the game, my first character had about 25,000 more XP than my sixth. As a percentage of my total XP, it's not that much, but it does mean that your party will never level up all at once, and you may need to level up characters at various stages during a battle. More than an inconvenience than anything, really, but at least the game doesn't round your experience down.

Placing your ECL races in the front of the group is idd a good approach.
Better to reign in hell then to serve in heaven!!
