Showing Vic´s Flask for Ed in Vault City ?

I refer to the walkthrough found in this lovely site:

Vault City

"Did you keep Vic's Water Flask like I recommended in Arroyo? It can come in handy here with Ed (in a tent on the west of the main path in the courtyard) for some xp and new locations on your world map."

First off,it´s not a tent =)

I Never had any option of showing this fllask for him. I tried using it on him, "plant" it in his pockets, putting in on the ground in front of him etc.
Since i have found several of these flasks during the game. I might have sold the "genuine" one i got from Arroyo. Should it really matter since they all stack in you´r inventory?

I do recall taking to him when I played (danged, think I need to play again), but I can't remember excatly what he says, but I remember that it wasn't plot critical.

I think you need to know about him from Vic, before some convesation options opens up.
So if you ask Vic where he got the bottle, he would mention Ed, and Ed would talk about where he got it.
