Does IWD2 have flanking? If I move a rogue in behind an enemy before striking, do I do better damage, or do I have to move behind an enemy while he's engaged with another party member, or does none of this matter, and sneak damage is just random on every attack? Does the rogue have to be hidden or invisible before the attack? I can find no definitive info on sneak attacks/flanking/backstab/whatever-you-call-it for IWD2.
I'm not a pnp player, so I'm not intimately familiar with dnd rules except as implemented in crpgs like IWD2. Thanks.
rogues and flanking
Check your manual. Page 60. It's all there.
"If the Rogue is hidden, the target is incapacitated (asleep, paralyzed, stunned, etc...) or when the rogue flanks the target, the rogue's attack deals extra damage."
So basically this applies when you're enemy isn't attacking your rogue. (I think)

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost,
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring,
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
