Once. For me, I found the game very rigid and the characters, comparatively uninteresting after BG2. Great visuals, but there's much else that I don't find appealing.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Only Twice. Why? Because I really *hated* the combat system. You just have to level-up correctly, then get some nice items and what you have to do is just pressy the "Master Flurry" or "Maste Critical" button... and wait. The combat system is just based on stats. There isn't alot of strategy in it. The only strategical part is "There's 5 enemy, should I throw a Plasma Grenade or should I save it for the next encounter".
Yay!! Finaly something to "*argue* over
So theres no strategy to it is there? Do you ever take a look at the combat display page after you've fought someone? Theres more strategy here then you may realize. I love RPG's, I love strategy games, and I enjoy Star Wars, this game is great. If there was no real strategy to this game, I would have given it up along time ago.
Correctly using your party memebers, grenades, computer spikes, repair parts, its all good. Even funner when using the Scoundrel class as you have to really heavily on strategy and cleverness in order to survive.

That is very true.
oh yeah i've beat it once & loved it,that was sometime last year, then i sold it then i bought it again months ago,now i just started again & am on the star forge & i don't remember it being this hard,i can get past deck 2,also last year i played i remember it being really tough to beat malak b/c i dont have alot of time to use my ls packs & he hits me & stuns me a mile away.
the walkthough doesnt really help.
oh & if you are wondering why i'd sell a game then by it again it's b/c of kotor 2,i can not have a sequel without the original.
I talk too much.

I have beat it 3 times since I bought it .... but it was relative boring after the first run through, where I agree with Fable so it was mostly because I was bored. The game was to short to have high replayability in my book.
Also - I agree with SP101:
There isn't alot of strategy in it. The only strategical part is "There's 5 enemy, should I throw a Plasma Grenade or should I save it for the next encounter".
This was a consequence of making the game way to easy.
There were only a few fights where I actually had to think about what I was going to do.

I beaten game with:
male soldier (8)/jedi guardian (12) light side then dark side
female Scoundrel (7)/jedi Consular (13) light side then dark side.
(Note: I saved game as backup before choosing with Bastila on unkown world that lead me to light side or dark side. I pick light first, after I finsih game with light side, I restore I saved and chose dark side. that will less time without having to start over.)
I stopped playing this game for now. Now I am going to read each items I found though out games when I can.

4 Times, 2 Time without cheating, saving way too much. That's one problem I've had with the game is if you save a lot, when you start a new game, you have to either delete all the saved games, or overwrite...I find it easier to overwrite, but deleting saves time look for the right game...
Hopefully they will remedy this in KOTOR 2
2 times with cheating, just for the hell of it!
I definitely think that depending on the character you play there is a lot of strategy involved...not so much as other games, but there definitely is. With a Consular you use more strategy than with a guardian, and with a sentinel, you use more strategy than the consular. Also, if you are playing on easy mode of course that is how it's gonna be! If you play on hard, you avoid Critical strike except for as a finishing move, because it is too costly to use any other time.
Although one problem does remain...melee takes a lot of weight over ranged...for obvious reasons...Lightsabers! But the ranged weapons make great support and still come in hand in certain situations.
I will agree with fable that the characters are a little flat. Especially those who are not as esential as others. Certainly Mission and Zaalbar are absolutely annoying...I can't stand all the stupid joking with the two when you first meet...ARGH! And I also think that Carth lack total depth...he irritates me...little girl is what he is.
Juhani I think is pretty cool. Although I wish you could pull her back towards the darkside at the end...that was frustrating for me. I like Jolee because he knows things...he isn't out to save the universe...just wants to have one last good fight before he dies. And he has good stories too. Canderous and HK-47 have good stories as well...although to be perfectly honest...I did not discover hk's full story until the third time I played.
Bastilla is really cool as a dark jedi, I wish I had gotten more time to play with her as a dark sider. But as a light side character she is also not too bad, although she does lack a sense of humor at first, you can train her to joke around a bit.

glad to know its not just me that hated those three npcs! the twilek, the wookie and the pansy....er...carth. i hope in kotor 2 you can smack your own party members. i dont know what the intention was to make them so annoying, but it makes me go straight for the dark side so
SPOILER!
i can kill them on the unknown planet...really, it makes my day watch carth (stripped naked) run like a little girl into the middle of nowhere while you slice and dice that walking carpet and the little blue smurf.

I am Sancho
But I like Mission and Zaalbar. But dark side on unkown world with Bastila, I had to stike them down but I like them, I don't had choose right now. Zaalbar can taking beating easy cuz he can't wear any armor, cuz he is too big, lol but Mission is harder to hit cuz of armor she wear and Master Scoundrel's luck to her defense. They are level 17 time I killed them, it take only few minutes I guess to kill them. Think of it, Bastila and I fight them using lightsabers, and Mission and Zaalbar using melee weapons. hand to hand combat is fun.

I've beaten the game probably about 6 times, but I say 5 just in case anyone wants to get technical. I'm sure I haven't done everything there is to do, either. And I almost cried when Carth ran away when I was darkside... Even though he was extremely annoying.
I've been lightside 4 times, darkside 2 times. I don't really like darkside, even though you can do whatever you want and not worry about guidelines. I guess I'm just not really evil at heart.
