Keep Character With Expansion Packs?

Post by Dreamweaver »

I have played the Original Morrowind for years now and I love it and my character is totally uber...but I want to take advantage of the new quests, items and other totally new things in Bloodmoon and Tribunal...but...I want to keep my character. Can you keep your character when you get the expansion packs or do you have to make a new one?

You can keep them. It's just like adding mods: new sections of the game are slotted into place, but your character retains all the data they had, from before.

But like mods...do you need to check them off on the DATA FILES screen every time you start up morrowind?

They're automatically checked off upon installation. After that, like mods, you don't have to do it again. Once checked, they stay that way.

Awesome. One thing...if you were to employ a mod...if you unclick the mod/uninstall it...do you keep your items and place in quests? And if so, if you Reinstall it...do you start where you left off?

Depends on the mod. If it's a quest mod, you lose all the progress you've made--I know this, because I tried it (intelligently for a change, with a backup) last night. If it's a house mod and you remove it then put it back in, everything you've stored in it is gone. But if it's a quest-related item and you remove the quest mod, the item usually stays on you.

Morrowind GOTY has nothing that the three parts of Morrowind--the original game, plus the two expansions--offer separately. It was simply packaged as GOTY to encourage sales among those who had hesitated, before.
