With a lot of grenades and healing goodies it might be possible.

I just finished Tarris and Bendak as a 2nd level soldier. Here's how I killed Bendak. Before the final dual, I made sure I had some stims, shields, medpaks and grenades.

Step 1: When the dual starts, the game auto-pauses. Go to the inventory screen and activate all of your stims and a shield. This is the only time you can activate multiple items at the same time.

Step 2: Run around and get out of the way of Bendak's grenades. Don't get to close to Bendak though or he might decide to come out and engage in mellee.

Step 3: Standing at least half way across the arena, start throwing grenades at him. I tried concussion, but he always saved. I emptied out my plasmas and then had to settle for frags.

Step 4: Hopefully Bendak will pull out his blaster and start taking shots at you. Keep an eye on your shield and your vitality. When the shield goes down, go to the inventory screen and activate it again. When your vitality starts to dip, go to the inventory screen and take a medpak. Don't wait to long to use a medpak. You've only got 16-20 VP, so one good critical hit can take you down.

That's how I did it. I wasn't expecting so succeed, but I was in the Cantina meeting Canderous and thought I'd give it a shot. Don't know if I got lucky, but was surprised to finish the fight.

On a related note. Has anyone tried laying mines in the dueling ring?

In one of the rooms of the Upper City Cantina, you'll find a Hut and a bunch of duelists. When you first enter the room, you'll get to watch a duel on a viewscreen. After that, talk with the Hut and you'll find out that you can start having duiling matches with the other duelists. If you win a duel, the Hut pays you a percentage of the gambling stakes. It's an easy way to pick up some credits early on in the game.

On a related note, what's everyone's favorite tactic for dueling Dead-Eye Duncan? I usaully strip down to my underwear, completely unarm myself and then run up and box with him. I've thought about trying a menacing stare, but can't seem to activate that power.

Im currently on moor (sp?) the guy after ice, and I need some tactics on how to beat him, im level 3 right now and am gonna stay at 4, then go 16 consular. Currently a scoundrel. Will running around make him unconscious like was said earlier, or is that only for dead-eye duncan??

I'm gonna assume that Dead-Eye having a corinary while chasing you is a joke (but I will check it the next time I start over).

As for Marl. Since he doesn't have a ranged weapon, you can use the run-around method. Once the duel starts, you can get maybe 2 shots at him before he closes on you. At that point, start running laps around the duelling ring, close to the wall.

Once you've run a third of the way around, hit the pause button. While paused, turn around and see how far Marl is from you. You usually only have enough time to get one shot at him without risking the chance of him catching up to you. While still paused, click on the target thingy and load your shot into the action que. Then unpause and let your character take the shot. As soon as you see the shot land (or miss), hit the pause button again. While paused, turn around facing away from Marl. Now unpause and run like the wind to the next point in the circle where you think it's safe to take another shot.

The reason for the pausing is so that Marl isn't closing on you while you're taking the time to turn around and load your shot. Once in a while, Marl will get close enough to land a blow on you. Watch for this and take a medpak from the inventory screen the next time you're paused. If you're only 3rd level, Marl can drop you in one blow if he get's a critical, so try every thing to keep one step ahead of him.

It might take a while to do this, and you may even start to get bored. I can't remember, but Marl may even take a Medpak along the way. Keep this up and eventually he will go down.

Good luck and may the Force be with you and you're track shoes.

Duel ring lvl 2

I had some trouble with Marl when I did it as a level 2 recently. I don't exactly remember what I did, but I assume that whatever I did to beat him (and Twitch) is what inspired me to beat Bendak the way I did, which was hurling concussion grenades at him until he's stunned. When I first started the duel, I didn't bother with stims or shields, seeing as shields are better against blasters, but I run toward him for a second, then I throw a concucssion grenade. Sometimes one concussion grenade will stun him; sometimes it takes more, but once he's stunned, I closed in and started hacking at him with whatever my two strongest melee weapons were. You only get to do that twice before he snaps out of it, so after that, run away from him. Equipping a shield before then helps, seeing as 50% of the time when he snaps out of it, he snipes at you, and the other 50%, he throws a plasma grenade (which is murder at level 2). It'll take a few goes of this to beat him, as long as you do it right, but it didn't require me to use any other kind of weapons but concussion grenades and melee weapons (I'm kind of stingy with medpacks and grenades, especially early on, although that's weird since I don't use them that much).

Michael Bay: "I don't understand the difference."

i didnt have too much trouble doing the duel ring at lvl 2...you just have to realize that you're a girl armed choir boy at that point and fight accordingly. use grenades (make sure you stretch you arm out first, you dont want to pull anything) and stims/shields. you dont really even need grenades until you get to ice or marl. dead eye duncan and gerlon two fingers are as wimpy as you, but you have medpacs. toss, run, toss, run. marl is a bit of a pain cause he doesnt use ranged attacks, but just keep those stims working (especially constitution).

I Finished The Duels Easily at lvl 3

Against Ice, Twitch, Bendak start the fight and unpause the combat so it is now fluid. Use a melee weapon and rush them. Now after you swing wait till they pull out their melee weapons and put away their ranged weapons and then run away. The ring is circular so they will never catch you. Now as they close periodically stop and tap X to take some pot shots at them but never let them get close enough to swing at you. They will continue to chase you until they die or they miss in melee combat. In which case they will switch back to ranged weapons and you will have to engage them in melee again to make them switch back. I warn you though Bendak has is hard to hit at level 2 and it will take a LONG time to kill him because of your low hit rate.
