Should I complete some other quests before going to Spellhold? My character is a level 12 barbarian and the only other NPCs in my party are Jan and Viconia. Some of the quests I haven't done yet Umar Hills, Windspear, the bridge murders, and some others. I think I should do these to get more XP before going to Spellhold. This is the first time I've gotten this far. Thanks for your help.

I would say you should, as well as kangaxx, check the walkthrough in the docks district. Right now Im soloing a blade, ive done quests like, free hendak, maevar, 1st and 2nd aran quests(for ammy), murders, and just rescued Haer'Dalis. Level 16 so far.
Edit: and with a small party like that, you will level a lot.

I've removed a couple of posts. One posted some spoiler information that would have given the thread creator more info than she currently knew. The second chastised the first.
Please, if you're going to post spoiler information, follow the instructions about how to do it, in the sticky thread--the one entitled "About Spoilers," towards the top of the page. (Duh.) If this is repeatedly violated, accounts can be lost--we get quite a few complaints from people who have major plot points spoiled for 'em, and who PM us about this. Thanks.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Well, it's your call. While there is a basically linear plot flow, you have considerable choice in whether (and in what order) you complete all the various side quests. I usually do everything I possibly can before heading off to Spellhold, but others choose not to. I hope I'm not spoiling things too much by saying that it doesn't really matter that much
Good gaming!

I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.
I suggest you stay for awhile and do some of the other quests first. Pick the easy ones and do them first. Obviously, the quests that give the most experience are the harder ones, so let the easy quests prepare you for them.
If you go to Spellhold now, the fights will be tough. I'm not saying it would be impossible, but just be sure you know what you're in for should you choose this route.
