If I made an item with invisibility constant effect would it have the same effect as chamelion (sp)

Nope - the invisibility will still be dispelled by attacking or activating objects. It's still a good item to make though - for moving/levitating through areas when you want to avoid a fight.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
