Personaly i would choose a nord, but other pepole would proably choose a redgaurd, because of their abilities, or a dark elf ,because of their ''superior'' abilities, but when you play the game and get to understand it you might want to start again because everything you pick at the start depends on what kind character you want and what skillz he/she has.
And lo ye must learn of the great war that raged fo a couple of posts and brought the citadel momentaraly to its knees
Lookie!

I tend to appear briefly and disappear very quickly after that, try not to let it bother you.

it all depends. there are no superior races, each is a combination. dark elf is the most balanced in my opinion, or maybe breton. choose those for your first player i think, then if you get bored and develop skills with the game, pick whatever. read the phamplet that comes with the game for more info.

I would choose imperial because they just seem to have the most balanced skills. Nothings at a to high, or to low of a level when you start

First character... Imperial, the spell Voice of the Emperor is incredibly useful for all the missions you have to go collect money etc, and get people to like you, sure you can bribe them, but in your first time, you need all they money you can have.

i found that the breton was the easiest. a good combonation of melee and magic. the melee can be worked on by any class, but its nice to have the huge pool of magika from the breton

Any race you choose will be just as good as any other, as long as you choose what that race does best with. Generally, first time players do best with fighter characters. For tips, look at this character creation guide on Game faqs. It tells what each race is best for, and describes what their initial bonuses and skills are, which you may be cloudy about when you're first starting out.

any character you choose to be will come out fine in the end of 20 lvls but to get the best results fastest then it would be really good to match up the special bonuses of each race with the major and minor abilities that you choose at the beginning of the game... eg. High Elf/Breton=high magika=superior magic even to those of 50 + lvls (my lvl 1 High elf has 150 magica wereas my lvl 50 woodelf has maximum of 100 (+magic items))

I'm from Sweden too, Eskilstuna. Like someone said, it's the combination of race & occupation. I player Bosmer & Archer. Other combinations are: Imperial & Knight, Orc & Barbarian. I'm sure you can find some others. ;)
