Problems with dual classing Kensai/Mage

I got my Kensai to level 9, but I can't seem to be able to dual class him to a Mage - just for a Thief. Here are my stats...

EXP309510
str17 dex18 con16 int16 wis9 cha7

Any ideas on why can't I dual?

You need Int 17 to dual to mage.

your intelligence is too low. your second prime requisite needs to be at least 17 for you to be able to dual class.
