elf race bonus question

elves are supposed to get a +1 bonus when using long swords and long bows. My question is it strictly long swords, or do scimitars, katanas if in that field?

It applies to any one-handed sword (even including a bastard sword!), and any bow (not a crossbow).

Note that it's only +1 to hit, there's no damage bonus.

In pnp AD&D, that's the way the game is supposed to be played, they only get a bonus of +1 to hit with long swords and long bows.

In BGII, Elves even get a bonus to hit with Two Handed Swords.
