I think I got a BIG problem here...(**MAJOR SPOILERS)
I'm now in Chapter 5, in Baldur's Gate. I was poisened by servants of the iron throne(Geas), and was notified by Lothander, the guy who approached me in the central BG market place, that the only way for me to remove my geas was to acquire a combined anecdote from him and Marek.
At first I didn't know who this Lothander was, and thought he was just throwing hollow threats. Not untill I read a walkthrough, and experimented in living through the Geas, which genuinely kills the entire party after 10days(game over), did I realize how bad a situation I was in. I got the scroll needed to trade for Lothander's half anecdote, but I couldn't find him in the Blade and Star inn, where I'm supposed to meet him. Just then, I realized that I already slayed this poor bastard, took his potion, and mistakenly sold it in some random pawnbroker shop--the half anecdote is not with the other items he's wearing. Since the thread of this plot has been broken, I am unable to retrieve the other half of the anecdote from Marek, who doesn't even show his shadow in the blushing mermaid's inn.
Now...without cheats or console demand, my party and I are doomed to die after 10 days. (or perhaps even fewer: 7 or 8 days). HELP........do I have to start all over?

........................................................................................................It's too late, all my autosaves/quicksaves are newly recorded. The only other save does me no use...I save every ten minutes.
It's not a complete loss even if I restart with my character. I've already "eaten" 2 wisdom tomes, and 1 of each other tomes. My Maincharacter (Ranger/Cleric) already has a wisdom of 20. By the time I finish BGII TOB, I will have a wisdom of 25...by then I will have so many spells that I don't even need another spell caster.

Plus, by restarting, you get to keep all the items in your inventory. How does having 2 cloaks and helms of Baldurn sound?
Any one knows if Imoen gets to keep her status in BGII? (for exp. if I dual her into a specialist mage, does she appear as a specialist mage/thief in BGII?)

Instead of posting two replies just edit your first one mbz.
Sorry, but Imoen will not be a specialist mage in Bg2 and if you dont have an xp cap remover, your cleric/ranger will not lvl further, otherwise you can have many cloaks / helms of balduran and "eat" other tomes. You can even solo the game so you will have all the exp for you and the equipment.Just download an exp cap remover before restarting.

I had a similar problem, however I chose not to kill him.
Look, don't start again, thats just stupid.
Edit your .ini file, and use the "cheat" to create Marek, and restart the whole quest again.
Its not actually the potion that makes you get cured, its the end of the conversation where you kill Marek that cures you.

This same thing happened to me. Damn it pissed me off, I even posted it on the Bioware forums. Anyway, continuing what me0w said, I guess you can cheat him in (I restarted the whole damn game), but instead of just going upstairs and killing him, TALK TO HIM. It's definitely silly, but after you talk to him, you are instantly cured, and you get the xp.
But he isn't there to talk to.
Infact the problem with my file was way more hardcore, it made it so that I couldn't finish or start any new quests, which was very ****ed, luckily I make a new save for every screen or major event that passes.
But its such a hassle, Had to go back about 4 quests and 3 screens !! BWAAR!
If you're now in Chapter 5 you should be able to finish the game in 10 days if you don't do the sidequests =)
That could be a real challange. Beating BG1 is quite easy so trying to do it all in 10 days would really make life alot tougher especially if you have amage heavy party....
