carrying capacity

Post by HighLordDave »

Does anyone know how many items the following containers will hold:

Bag of Holding
Ammo Pouch
Gem Bag
Scroll Case

I found out that the Potion Bag will hold 100 potions, but am unsure how much crap I can stuff in the others before I start getting the "Container is Full" message.

Scroll Cases and gem bags hold 20 items each. Don't know about bag of holding but it seems to be quite a bit more than that.

the bag of holding holds such and such cubic feet so it is not a strict item limit. it depends on the size of the items.

I find it hard to imagine that the designers would have given every item a height, width and depth, and wrote an algorithm that arranges items in your bag and calculates if another one still fits in... :D

You can get two Bags of Holding: one is in the Asylum and the other can be bought from Lazarus Librarus in Saradush.

I don't think the Bag of Holding computes volume or weight (Big Metal Unit fits!); I think it will take any item with a maximum capacity because I had a bunch of Potions of Extra Healing and some arrows which filled the thing up. I was just wondering how much stuff I could cram in it.

In PnP AD&D, the bags of holding did have an interior volume listed. In BG2, I believe it is a strict number of items, regardless of weight/size.

Where do you find potion bags and ammo pouches?

The two bag of holding have different codes, I can't remmeber which one is which. But the bag04 (I think this one is from the Asylum) holds only 100, the other one (bag31) can hold 2000.

The ammo pouch can hold 2000 as well.
