D&D seems to have a defined area of begging, boring and slow, to a level of play in which you enjoy the game. The first zone is what I like to call The Newb Times.
Early in the Newb Times, I created an adventure, my first or second and it had a realy intriguing plot, well at least to me... Here it is:
You are in a small Human-Halforc fronteer village. The town is Istagdd a small and remote town in the tundra. There you meet a gnoll ranger who tells you of a far away dungeons taken in the Orcish wars, wherein his family was killed and a special ring of his fathers remains there today.
Ungart, the gnoll, would be an NPC that would be sorta like my character through out the game.
I was wondering if I should bring back the idea now that I know how to play, and please share any of your tales from the Newb Times.

Personally I think it is a good idea Magpie. I liked the newb times, but now they are over and I play at a higher level with one person who is still in the newb times (banshee as I call him). DnD just seems to slow down round him...maybe it's because of his about average IQ, fairly bad memory, or less than average attention span...I also remeber a tale from the newb times...it was in that very same campaign.
So I offer you respect, and it will take much for you to lose it. But if you do, if you choose to see it as weakness and seize upon your perceived advantage, well...perhaps I'll then let you talk with Guenhwyvar.
