Battle Squares (spoiler)

Post by XazaX »

I have a problem with the battle squares. The walktrough says that you need 5 levels to complete a rank, and you need 6 squares to complete level four. There are only 9 squares and by then I've allready got 3 in a row and it ends :( . What must I do to reach the higher levels?

It's quite simple actually. Lets say this:

XOO
OOO
OOX

You could take the center square, but that would end the match. So do this instead.

XOO
XOO
OOX

Now you can take the center square and hath taketh four in total! The real trick is how to take six.

Follow this system.

First square:
OOO
XOO
OOO
Second square:
OOO
XOX
OOO

From now on, take the centre square to complete that rank.
So, to complete rank 1 take the centre square on your third go.

Otherwise continue as follows.
Third square:
OOO
XOX
OXO
Fourth square:
OXO
XOX
OXO
Fifth square:
OXO
XOX
XXO
Sixth square:
OXX
XOX
XXO

Seventh square: take the centre square to complete rank 5 (actually it can be any square, but taking the centre one is being methodical)

Heres the deal:

3 squares = obvious
4 sqaures = obvious
5 squares = top left corner square, then the one under it and the one next to it. You now have the three top left sqaures (the top left corner, middle left and centre top sqaures). Next take the bottom right corner square (4 total) then the centre sqaure to join them up (5 total, 3 in a row).
6 Squares = Top left 3 squares as above, then bottom right and the one above it. Then take the centre sqaure.
7 squares = Take the top left 3, then the bottom right 3. Take the centre square to finish.

I always found it easier to use the centre square as my finisher.

Spoiler!

This is truly a grand day. I've completed Battle Squares :D

Many people would like to know what the reawards are for completing the ranks, so I wrote it down. If you DON'T WANT TO KNOW IT IN ADVANCE, please don't read the following!

Here we go:

#1. Dragon's Belt
#2. Potion of Holy Transference
#3. Abishai Hide Armor
#4. Arrows of Biting
#5. Throwing Axe of Shocking Burst
#6. Club of Disuption (excellent, this one!)
#7. Ice Spear +4; Bolts +5
#8. Zilzanzer's Magnificent Darts; Longbow of Empowerment
#9. Aegis Scroll; Wand of the dead
#10. Power Word: Kill Scroll; Bracers of Icelandic Belt; Brilliant Short Sword +5

I recall someone mentioning getting Cornugon Hide Armor, too, but I didn't get that

Brynn,
What character did you use to beat it and what level(s) was he/she? I've almost reached the BS myself and I've been squatting my characters at like like 8.
