aging

Post by aensiki »

Did anyone else feel that aging in the game is strange? Only because you're the only one that ages. Your older sister never gets older, nor do any of the townspeople or your wives (maybe we should be thankful for that). It's like everyone besides you is immortal. How depressing =P

Yeah I spent a lot of time early in the game doing the side things. Like looking for merchants with the tattoos and barber cards I wanted, and collecting gold for the weapons, armor, houses and house upgrades, ect... I had spent a long time on the game and had only gotten the first two quests done. I looked at my personality and saw I was already 29 years old  . I was thinking: wasn't I 18 when I finished training only two quests ago. I was afraid I'd be 70 by the time I finished the game at this rate.

I don't know how aging works exactly, but I think it's like this. I had gotten about 6-7000 exp points when I walked into the heroes guild and before I leveled up my stats I looked at my age it was 29 b4 I leveled up and 32 right after I finished. I think I only leveled up 3 of my stats at that time. So I'm thinking you gain a year for every stat and spell upgrade you get...

edit- I'm curious if anyone else figured this out?!?!?!
I kill two dwarves in the morning, I kill two dwarves at night. I kill two dwarves in the afternoon, and then I feel alright. I kill two dwarves in time of peace and two in time of war. I kill two dwarves before I kill two dwarves, and then I kill two more.
I may be bad, but I feel good.

experience points

i heard that it was based on a percentage of experience points gained

(take this very liberally and not sure of percentage) like 10% of experience points are turn into time (age)

10,000pts x .1 = 1,000 days or almost 2.7 years
i don't know if it's just general experience or all experience

gaining power/skills with age and therefore, the less experience points acquired, the younger you are

feel free to disprove me, this is just what i heard

well i had the exp points before I used them and I was still 29 in the heroes guild, 20 seconds later when I used them I was 32 all of a sudden. Maybe if what you say is true, it only counts for the exp that you end up using.

start age 18
enflame +4
multi arrow +4
slow time +4
physique +7
health +5
toughness +4
speed +4

I didn't realize what the age cap was. Maybe I'll have to make a new list.

age in prison

the only actual recorded time in the game i have found is when you spend a year in prison. and you do add a year on to your age stat during this period of the game. I did actually check my just before and just after

The official way you age is: 0.7 years everytime you level up one stat.

Now...related to this topic, once you hit 65 years old, can you actually continue to level up stats or is that like a cap? Having never reached it I don't know yet..

Oh cool I had a theory that it was 1 year for each stat level. Sorry I can't answer your question, but I want to know where you learned it was 0.7 years per stat level, if you don't mind.

Receached 65 several times.. before i figured out i could get my age down to around mid 30's again by donations and sacrifices at the temple of avo and the temple of skorm.

But to answer the age and experience thing.. Yes you can keep on spending experience. First time I played the game.. I spent around 3 hours in the hobbes caves hacking at every thing. collecting enough strength experience to max str stats out.. and enough general experience to max out all of skill and about half of will.

Then after the arena.. for which i did several re-runs since i wante even more experience and cash to make sure i couple buy enough potions the bright plate armour. I had already reached 65 by this time.. and just went ahead and spent em.

Okay long winded and probably most of it pointless.. so in other words as long as you have the xp you can spend it no matter what the age.

if you're so inclined, grey house is a great place to level fairly early in the game. Armed with physical shield and plenty of mana potions, it's easy to get 500k+ experience in one go. The first few times I went, there were just the regular zombies and second level zombies. After a few more bouts though, the spawn zombies appeared. They're the really big ones that can summon 4 level 1 zomvies at a time. Generally when they're alone, they will stop spawning zombies after a while, but when they're together, they seem to continue indefinitely. That's the key.

When they do appear, they come in pairs: one in the pond close to the entrance and one in the pond by the demon door. So kill all the zombies except for these two, then lure them close to each other. Be careful and kill only the zombies that they summon. Everytime you kill a zombie, the boss zombie it belonged to should summon another one. Rince. Repeat. When your multiplier starts exceeding 100, you get ridiculous exp for everything. And of course, if you maintain your physical shield, you won't have to worry about losing your multiplier. One of my chars had maxed out stats before even going into oakvale.

After donating 70,000 for the sentinus, i donated 10,000 and got life reduction... Wether the 70,000 contributed to me getting the age reduction is for you to guess since I have no clue.

Hmm if you want eternal youth this is a simple but sanity destroying task for the good guys out there. Between story quests just kill kill kill kill and such till you are one of the wealthiest men of all time and spend it all on donations at Avo. Continue for as long as your sanity will allow my friends.

I heard that every time you visit the experience spending thingy you age 0.7 years. Go there as not often as possible, and your fine. I think. Haven't really tested this out though.

The guard will re-spawn later on, and if you do Scorm's temple first then avo as your alignment is good, you get quicker rewards with less effort and get to be just as good as when you started.... small price to pay for youth......

I read somewhere if you only spend individual exp and not general exp when leveling up you don't age....Yet to test this ???
