(spoilers) Tribunal Plot: nonsense or nonsense?

Post by moltovir »

I installed Tribunal a week ago, and just got the Almalexia's task to get a ring from some lich, and Tienus's quest to stop the writer of the Common Tongue. So far so good, nice quests, nice rewards, good battles, but there's one thing that bothers me enormeously: the giant lack of respect you are treathed with. After all you are (in my case) the reincarnation or Lord Nerevar, Patriarch of the temple in service of Azura, Guildmaster of the Vvardenfell Imperial Guild of Fighters, Archmaster of House Redoran, one of the eldest political institutes on Tamriel, and commander of 5-6 Imperial Legions spread across Morrowind (which, in ancient Roman standards, would equal up to 45000 soldiers), and still all guards call you scum, all Ordinators say "if I liked you more i would give an answer", and Almalexia herself gives you errants like "Get some bread from a Dwemer Ruin, buy some butter from the local nobleman and steal cheese from the rooms of King Helseth himself and I will use all my godpowers, which I shouldn't have in the first place, to make the Divine Sandwich of Almalexia that you can eat once a day to regrow your cut-off toenails". In the past, she betrayed you, leading to your death and granting her immortality, but she still hasn't noticed that she should crawl into the dust for Lord Nerevar reborn, the hero that beat Dagoth Ur, Enemy of the State #1 of Tamriel, and has come back to restore the ancient Gods and drive out the false Tribunal. Is it me or is this just a bad storyline?

good points u got there....though maybe the guys at the Bethesda had my idea.
IF it is supposed that tribunal is a sidequest to a main story it draws the conclusion that u havent defeated dagoth ur yet.also, both tribunal and bloodmoon's soltsheim are presented as some long forgotten places of not so healty goverment and/or postal service...
-possible spoiler-...and since the tribunal plot goes behind vivec's back, it is normal that the gods play the ignorance card.
still, maybe im just bailing out myself...since i didnt solve the main morrowind quest before the tribunal :D
Finding the world in the smallnes of the grain of sand
And holding infinities in the palm of your hand
And Heaven's realms in the seedling of this tiny flower
And eternities in the space of a single hour.

in the end almalexia is suppossed to betray you, so before that point, she wants you to think that she is all immortal and much better than you so when you fight her you'd think she's all powerful and strong and crud like that :D :D but maybe she forgot that you are no peasant and shouldn't be treated like one and for mistaking you for a peasant she pays the ultimate price..... :p death :p and i know this because before she gives you the quest to kill sotha sil in his clock work city, she says some crud like,"thank you for doing these quests (your name goes here) or should I address you another name from another life... but that is not important right now..." notice the parts of her speach i have highlighted which indicate my theory :D
:( and for tieneus deliton (or somtin like that, you no the main guard guy) and all his bull**** guards having no respect for you, i don't think there is a reason for that, except for maybe what Locutus pointed out

My two cents' worth: They needed to account for the fact you might not have completed the main plot as well - hence the bit of awkwardness in the plotline. The problem, IMO, is that Bethesda didn't flesh out the story enough. Play through the end, and certain parts will make more sense to you.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.
