Idea for new mod
I was sitting outside drinking my coffee when i got to thinking, why not make a mod that brings khalid back to life. I think that it could have great potential for the story. has this dome before?

how would it be a good addition to the storyline? khalid was killed off to make room for a jaheira romance. not only that, her getting over khalid was the big crux of your relationship with her. now, however unlikely it is that a woman like jaheira will get over khalid and fall for you in the short time it takes for you to do the game (which can be anywhere between 40 and 100 days), if khalid comes back to life, that CANNOT happen.
however, i'm not knocking the fact that you want to do the mod, but you would have to come up with a damn good explanation to keep the jaheira romance available.

Well thats why it is a mod, so the story can be changed. Why would someone want to use the Improved <insert name here> mod just to make the game harder/easier/cheesier. so why not bring back a character from bg1 and sac one of the many romances available.
There is an easy explanation to not keeping the jahiera romance open. You don't want to romance her, She is like a sister to you and you don't want to take advantage of her in her time of mourning.

Well, I'd say you've really planned this out well, then.

ello galuf! good to see you
I havent planned it much. if i knew anything about making mods id do it in a heart beat. I hope that perhaps someone who makes mods will stumble upon this and make it happen.

Basicly, the idea for the mod can be, Jaheria dies, Khalid lives, takes Jaheria's place, becomes the new male romance. Its great. Not enough male romance. I hate Jaheria for her "yes oh onmipresent authority figure" line and her bossy attitude. (although I'm trying to play her now, and I also dislike Khalid, since BG1 when he had moral failure over being hit once from full health by a gibberling, at this point, he was promptly "taken care of") But at any rate, he is a loveable character with a great voice, and lots of room for character development. (how about at the loss of his bossy wife, he actually becomes a REAL man)
Seems like a good enough idea. Make the people well aware of it, have an easy uninstall option, would work great.
I'd try it out.

It sounded as if Taco was intending Jaheira to be alive as well.

I think it's a fantastic idea. It can be a big quest to find a priest who is able to restore his mangled body and bring him back to life after several days of his death! Guess what, only one priest can do that in Faerun, you don't know who he is, where he is, it takes a week to track him down, and then he puts a geas on you that you'll retrieve an artifact for him if he resurrects Khalid (or, track someone else down, take revenge on someone, whatever). Hey, do that!

Is/Was it possible to bring an incomplete body back from the dead, especially in 2nd Edition? Jaheira comments that Khalid is 'too desecrated to be brought back' if you ask about reviving him. If it could be done, though, it might be interesting.

Yeah, seventh level Clerical spell Ressurection can bring a person back from the dead even if you only have a fingertip or a vial of blood. However - it costs a lot of money (100,000gp IIRC).
The fifth level Cleric spell Raise Dead requires a complete body, and the person getting raised loses a point of CON permanently.
Oh, both require a System Shock roll (percentage roll) to succeed, if the roll fails then the person can not be brought back.
Cheers,
TGHO

That's the challenge in it, to raise that much money AND find the (let's say only) priest who is willing to do that
