Errrrrrrh... a few major name mistakes here, I presume.
I guess you are in "Secret Of Undrentide" and shortly past the tomb of Kel-Garas. You have snagged his Rod of Life and went to the temple of the morninglord in the dried-out oasis. You're in that temple now, right?
There Kel-Garas re-appears and involves you in a lengthy conversation which will typically end in him attacking you.
And yes, that fight is indeed a major p.i.t.a. IF you try to actually have it out with him. But... remember why you're in that temple... remember why he sweet-talked to you right before, trying to pull you to his side... namely: you still have his rod of life and you are here for nothing less than to smash it on the altar of the morninglord - thus ending his undead existence once and for all.
Simply make your way to the altar, place the rod on it and leave the rest to the reliable hands of the deity that is known to hate all undead more than anything else.
<edit>
Or.. well.. you didn't probably ally with Kel-Garas back in that tomb? ...right?
As a paladin no less?
Since then you’ll have to kill the leader of the Bedines and let Kel-Garas take the rod of blight back. In exchange, Kel-Garas will give you a dagger, which you can place on that Altar to create Jergal’s Claw, a +2 short sword that casts blindness. You’ll fall 13 points toward both chaotic and evil if you choose this route (and earn the title of Destroyer)...
Why you would do this will seem pretty incomprehensible when you find out what the mythallar does and who is after it... especially as a paladin?!
