Some people did not find them hard, thus the script improvements I am working on for them. The problem with dragons isnt their abilities but their lack of using those abilities in the most destructive manner to the party.

And their lack of responding to different threats.

And their pathetic targeting which treats the nearest enemy as the most important.

Now imagine that same dragon you fought knew exactly who your party was, and who was the most dangerous out of your party and took them out first, leaving the less dangerous to be picked off at leisure...

Also Artifical Intelligence can only do so much...If you have 4 high level fighters improved hasted duel wielding powerful weapons the dragon is gonna go down pretty quick...This is due to Biowares implementing of the dragon in the game so they could be killed.

If you want a challenge I will send you a dragon I created called GrothGar, he makes the other dragons look like Kobolds...He uses improved AI, level 9 spells, and has about double the hit points of a normal dragon...Actually Im not sure how tough he is cause I been too busy creating stuff for the add-on to actually fight him...But he should be pretty hard based on his script and abilites...Also he casts Simulcrum and creates a copy of himself. I used my improved AI to give the Simulacrum AI as well so it also attacks you...

Or you could just wait until me and Manveru finish our expansion and you will get to fight Grothgar there...

How about Kevin Dorner's Balderdash bug fixes? Do they impact the Dragon AI significantly? I've surely noticed a whopping tractor trailer load of differences in the game since I installed the text and bugfixes, and I'm preparing to take on the Shadowdragon also, so I'm curious as to how tough it's going to be with Kevin's fix pack in place.

I'd also like to get your dragon, if I could. What do I need to do to do that?

I think I know just a tad little about Kevins AI Fix for the dragons *big Grin* (hint check the credits) it only lessens the players ability to use cheese tactis to beat the dragon it does not make the dragon any smarter or change any targeting. However some people find the dragons harder to beat with Kevins patch since they cannot use the same cheese tactics...
I will upload my dragon and script to Arundors abode at : http://www.in.on.ca/~cmohan/redwall/bg/bg2_scripts.html today or tomorrow and Arundor will post it soon (dont know how long I will talk to him at Team Bg and find out should not be more than a couple days...). That way anyone who wants to can download the dragon. (what kind of loot do you want the dragon to have?)

I will make the dragon appear in the lair of the Shadow Dragon after you have killed it. With some dialog saying he is there to avenge Thaxll'ssillyia's death.

This seems to be the forum site for talented contributors; it's my good luck to have run into you all. My belief is that you guys are making history right now, by helping ensure the success of game companies such as Bioware. It's evident that producing a game such as BG2 "on time" is a project of such immense scope that assistance by the fans of the game is a needed component for success. I've seen it happen in the past, with CRPG's such as Daggerfall, but never on a scale such as I've seen with Baldurdash. You guys are definitely sailing the icebreaker.

You are making the assumption that we are going to actually be able to kill Grothgar. :( I am seriously wondering about this. As a matter of fact, if you have any suggestions or hints with regard to tactics, (Shadowdragon and Grothgar), I'm eagerly awaiting with all ears.

If by chance we do make it alive, :p personally I'd like to see some stuff like Bladesinger chainmail (or better), or some neat looking swords such as the Daystar (or better). There are not alot of swords in the game that have asthetic appeal; of those that do, the Daystar is one of them. Is it possible to have custom items in the loot?

Okay Grothgar is done and I sent the zip to Arundor. I gave him a couple neat Katanas I made and some interesting pieces of armor (you will have to find out what it is).

As for strategy to beat Grothgar...I dont think he can be beat!

You cannot kill him with ctrl y I made him immune to that (No hes not wearing imoens belt) and he is immune to timestop as well!

So as to beating him im not sure how you would...maybe six kensai mages improve hasted could beat him? Maybe...Give me feedback on this when you fight him...Or maybe he will die fairly easily.

I dont think so but there are a lot of tactics out there for killing dragons...(Also you cannot lower his resistance or saving throws and he is immune to insta kills spells!)

He is immune to lower resistance because he carries a powerful cloak which grants immunities to many schools and certain levels of magic.

If he is too hard I will tone him down a bit...but he is supposed to be hard...Heres the website where he will be found...Bookmark it as Arundor has not posted the file yet but he will soon In the creatures section I am sure...

Also keep in mind this is version 1.0, I welcome comments and criticism to help improve the dragon.

If you want his custom loot you will need the IEEP or IEES from www.teambg.com, but you dont need it to fight him and get the other loot (Gems, scrolls and gold).

There is also a Black Dragon, Besides the Red, Shade, and Silver dragons.

The red dragon many people find harder than the Shade Dragon.

But Grothgar will hand all of them their scales,I am pretty sure he could take on all four at once and win!

The Red and The Shadow are pretty much the same. The only thing that would make either battle more difficult is if you dont fight canstor upstairs. The mage + the red dragon could make the battle a bit harder.

All the dragons are pretty much the same with the main difference being their Breath weapons and how they use them.

I had no problems with the irenicus shadow dragon or firkraag.

firkraag:keep casting clouudkill and he will drop ater a few rounds.
irenicus dragon: cast finger of dead and he dies.

I have talked to Arundor and he will be posting that dragon and a couple other files I sent him in a couple days. The other files are

1.) An AI improvement for the Vampires so they go after people not protected from level drain first.

2.) An AI improvement for the Beholders so they dont send gaze attacks at you if you can reflect them back (they summon help instead).

3.)Version 1.0 Monster Opening Doors AI for all monsters to open doors in the game. This is not the best way to do it, but its the only way I found that works consistently. I am working on version 1.05 currently.
4.)And of course GrothGar the mighty red dragon(Ki-master, try this dragon)!

As he is harder than the end boss...Yep that and a couple other goodys, though the cloak is the best one, in my opinion.
