Ok, i installed IWD, im playing it at the moment. Is it wise to install HOW directly, so I can have higher HP? Or doesn't that work? If I want to do the expansion, can I return later to kuldahar to finish the endboss? OR do I have to kill the endboss first then return to lonelywood.
SO can you switch between the areas and do I have higher hitpoints when installed?
Thank you for answering!
Need help
I'd go ahead and install HOW now. I'm not sure what you mean by higher HP?
If you're playing IWD, you'll be able to enter HOW from a house in Kuldahar, but you have to be lvl 9 or higher. You can go back and forth. You can "finish" IWD before you do HOW, but it's not necessary. I went to HOW, just before I went to the final stage of IWD (door you need badges for). HOW gives out a ton of exp, even in the early mini-quests, so playing it at least partially will boost you for the end of IWD.
To answer specifically: Yes you can go back and forth, but you have to reach a certain point in HOW to go back and forth. Spoiler: finish the burial isle and you'll find the barbarian shaman that can send you back....
Again, not sure what you mean by higher HP.

Well I mean the total exp cap.
Example: in IWD you can get 1800000 EXP points total, so you can not go higher than level 10. BUT if you install HoW you can gain EXP up to 99999999999999 so you can go up to level 30.
My question is; Whats the max level of IWD you can get as (example) fighter?
And when HoW installed, how high can you get then? OR is it possible to get to level 30 in IWD alone?
Thanks!

It may be possible, but it's not realistic to expect to max out your exp. You'd have to kill a massive amount of random encounters to even come close. And when I say "massive amount" I mean to the point of boredom. I played a group of 4 characters (so the exp was divided by four instead of six, ie. more to go around) and still only got to 18 with my Ranger and Mage, 22 with my Cleric, and 24 with my thief. That's doing every quest offered, at "normal" difficulty level.
What I recommend is playing IWD until all of your PCs are lvl 9 or higher. Once you reach that, you'll be able to enter HOW. The mini-quests in the early stages of HOW literally dump exp on you. Sometime after the burial isle in HOW, return to IWD and finish it up. That'll allow you to take some pretty beefy PCs to the IWD final battles, plus there's a nice sword that will be handy in the end of HOW.

if i'm not mistaken... the how ex cap isn't '99999999999999', it's '80000000000000'. this still alows the lv 30... and the reason i'm correcting you on this is because i'm pickie... <please don't hate me ...>
