Do paladins worship helm or Lathander because in bg1 Adjantis (somthing like that) used to allways say "Helm watch over me", but isnt Lathander for the good and Helm for the neutal???????.
And is Keldorn worth having for the Holy Avenger??????????.
Paladin?
Paladins can be for any god. The definition of the word palidin is:
A leading champion of a cause
------------------
"Four thousand throats may be cut in one night, by a running man."
- Klingon Crewman "Day of the Dove"

And I remember Ajantis being LG, so you have a very good point Kronic (he should have worshipped Lathander).

There was lots of Evil Paladins in Dragon Lance. The enemys of the Solamnic Knights that you run into in the planar sphere are evil paladins that worship the Queen of Darkness Takhisis.

Were they considered "Evil Paladins" or dark knights? Personally I hate the term Anti-Paladin (all the reverse of a true paladin...just sounds uncreative).
Also, books have a habit of bending or breaking the gameplay rules to make a good story. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that as a DM, you have to determine which rules will stay and which will bend. A fine example is the Drizzt books. Salavatore breaks the rules all the time. Good books, but you always end up with someone in your group saying, "Can I play a good drow ranger with 2 scimitars?".
But, just so I sound like I'm back on topic, they don't really say in the game which god your character worships. I considered it more of a roleplaying thing. The way I roleplayed my Cavalier, I considered Helm to be my character's deity.

I believe they were called Dark Knights and Paladins. They were champions for an Evil Goddess but they had Honor which put them in odd situations sometimes. Anyways they probably did bend the rules when they wrote the books. But it was a cool story. I hope they make a Dragonlance computer game like Baldurs Gate someday.

Nothing wrong with bending the rules a little if you get a good story out of it. I just don't see Black Isle getting away with too much if they have WoC looking over their shoulders (esp with BG 2 and the 2nd edition rules). They'll probably have more "creative license" with NWN and the 3rd Edition rules.
