Bloodlines Post-Release Interview
Bloodlines Post-Release Interview
Regarding the first question, where Leonard responds that they were pleased with the feedback they received, I would like to know where they received this "feedback" from. I have never been so displeased and frustrated with a game in my life. Don't get me wrong, the graphics are nice (not Half-Life 2 or Doom 3 nice, but better than most), but the are inconsistent and full of bugs (objects overlapping other objects that should be in front of them, etc). The game play and story is good and the free range of quests and side quests makes it a different game every time you play, but the mechanics of the game (sound quality, movement, available options) leave much to be desired. I cannot look at fog or fire without my speakers cracking, and yes, I have a compatible sound card and the most up-to-date drivers. As I walk down the street, the system locks and I keep walking straight into buildings, people, etc., and yes, I have the most up-to-date drivers for my keyboard. And, other than setting a few graphic and game play options, there isn't much more you can do to tweak the quality of the game. I even found spelling errors in the dialog! Lastly and my greatest cause for frustration, is the crashes. My system exceeds the game requirements and recommendations. It runs Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 with no problems what-so-ever, so my would it have difficulties with this game? The answer, Troika's quality management dropped the ball. To put a game on the shelves with this many problems was a crime, and to compound the situation, it has been over two weeks and there is still no patch to fix any one of these problems. Mr. Boyarsky, you need a better pipeline for feedback, because you seem to be reading only the good reviews. Try doing a search on "Vampire Bloodline Problems" and you will see that many users are having problems and share my dissatisfaction.

This isn't even remotely a thread about a development interview at all, is it? It's about your anger and frustration over the graphical/audio state of the game. If you want to rant, please don't disguise it as something else; and please don't attempt to use the argument that "everybody agrees with me." Everybody doesn't agree with you, and the game has proven both popular and successful. The problems aren't going away by themselves; our forum has several threads about them. But if you want to vent, do so in a logical, courteous and straightforward manner, explaining what you see as wrong, and soliciting the opinions of others.
Since it's just your first post, you may simply be a fly-by anti-game sniper, putting the same content in forums on other V:TM boards. We'll see whether you show up again; and if you do, whether you truly want to engage in discussion.

A very interesting reply... You mention anger and yet your post is laden with it. You mention courteous and yet your reply is rather uncourteous. At no time did I say "everyone agrees with me", I suggest a course of action for Mr. Boyarsky to follow so that he could see for himself. My examples of the graphics and sound were to illustrate the numerous bugs and flaws that this game is rife with. You are right, this is my first post, but I have been an avid gamer for many years now and I enjoy many titles that Activision and Troika have offered in the past. If you would have reviewed the "other VT:M boards", you would see that I posted my message here and only here. You speak of me disguising my "rant" as something else, well I think you might want to look up the word "Hypocracy" as your post fits that description better. If you have the game, love the game, and are having no technical difficulties with it, then I am happy for you. I am not naive, I know that all new releases come with some technical issues. This one, however, has not only a greater amount, but a greater magnitude of them, and since the post-release interview mentioned the wonderful feedback that was received, I thought that Troika needed to here about some of the problems as well. (Seeing as their web-site provides no vehicle for it)

I for one can understand ur anger towards those bugs, I won't bother going into detail about what kind of problems I've experienced, but that Society of Leopold bug was really a BAD MISTAKE.
VERY sad that Troika has made a game which forces its' buyers to use console commands. I've never EVER seen a game do that before..

Then you're reading through the haze of your own anger, Tazman. I'm simply stating factual content. You entitle your thread, "Post-release interview," yet your second line immediately focuses on your reaction: " I have never been so displeased and frustrated with a game in my life." The third and fourth lines elaborate on this, and the fifth begins providing examples. Finally, comes "To put a game on the shelves with this many problems was a crime..." Am I wrong in reading anger? If so, what emotions does this post show? Where's the focus on the interview? Transferring the burden of your anger onto somebody else isn't going to make matters any better.

If I'd been angry at your post or you, you would certainly know it in far more graphic terms, I assure you. You started an interview thread--which implies that it either posts a link to an interview for general discussion, or the contents of an interview, or at the very least, that the main subject of the thread is an interview--and instead, your first post was intended as a rant on the quality of the game, a sounding board that doesn't even solicit the reactions of the GameBanshee community. That's simply a statement of fact. That kind of calling it one thing, doing another, doesn't go over on this board. Again, simply a statement of fact.

I've had significant problems with clipping and crashes, as well as sound issues. Where did I comment on content in my previous post? If you wanted to call this thread "Graphics Issues" or "Sound Card Issues," stated your problems and asked about how the game was going for others, we would have no problems with it. But calling the thread one thing, then launching an attack without inquiring for the opinions of others, certainly justifies the designation of "rant." And it's also inappropriate for these boards.
If you have any further complaints about this, please contact me via PM (personal message). But this thread is closed. Feel free to start one that solicits the experience of other forum members, rather than just yours.
