dual-class question

Post by Hazim ibn Gorion »

I can hardly believe it, but I've never dualed from warrior to thief before in BGI, BGII, or IWD. I want to do it on the next game and have two little questions. Any knowledgeable assistance is appreciated.

I want to start an Archer and dual him to thief after 9th level. 2 questions:

1. Is that possible? Any weird so-and-so can't dual to so-and-so thing I need to know about?

2. I'd like to plant my Archer's profiencies in long bow. Can my character still use a long bow after he's become a fully dual ranger/thief?

Ranger/Thief is not a valid class..Rangers can only dual to Clerics. Here are the valid dual classes.
Fighter/thief
Fighter/cleric
Fighter/mage
Ranger/cleric
Thief/mage
thief/cleric
mage/cleric
fighter/druid
I believe thats all the valid choices.

That's good to know. I thought that might happen. But the second question still stands. If I start as a fighter and put points into longbow and then dual to thief, can I use longbows once I become fully dual class?

I don't know for sure but a thief dualed to a mage can use a short bow once he/she levels up and get their thiefing skills back. So i would say yes he/she can.

simply yes! After surpassing your former level (of the old class) you can use ALL your former profiencies and abilities, of course including your longbow...

The cleric and druid combinations are the only ones which limit which weapons you can use.

That's gonna be an awfully long time without that longbow though...
