Dueal Class question

When I duel my kensai at level 9 it says my kensai class is inactive and I can not use my katanas, is this normal?

yes
to get your kensai skills back you have to make your other class (probably mage) surpass it by a lvl (or get to the same lvl i think) so, you will have to train until lvl 9 or 10 so you can get your kensai skills back

Your second class has to -exceed- your first class in order to get the first class's skills back. So you will have to reach level 10 as a mage.
