Museum impossible due to access card?

Post by Zodiachus »

To me, it seems that it is impossible to get through the museum without killing.
When I have passed the red security beams to the end of the last corridor, the door to the Storage Room is locked. I only find the Storage Room key (access card actually) on the corpse of the guard who stood in the other end of the corridor after the beams. To be clear, I find the key in his remains AFTER I have killed him, which quite destroys my hopes for killing none at all.
Is there some other way to get the Storage Room key that I don't know of? The Gambanshee walkthrough fails to mention this key at all.

Thanks in advance!

If I have the right key (entirely possible I've gotten them mixed up!) there is: if you search around down in that basement level, you'll find the window with the fetish on the other side. The wall opposite that is the wall of a laboratory: enter through the door there and you find a key card on the counter.

I hope that's the right key, and that this helps!

Hey Samiae, sad to say, the key you mentioned is the "Museum Workroom Key" (as opposed to the "Museum Storage Room Key" which is needed to get through that last door), and where the hell that goes, I have no idea. Is this a new problem introduced since the 1.2 patch, or am I plain bad at this?

*sigh* / *sob* / *sigh sigh* / *sob* :(

Hehe, turns out it's my stupidity after all. If you don't set off the alarm, there's no guard there waiting, hence you don't need to kill him.

How do you not set off the alarm though? I had to either trip the wires and kill the guard at the end of the hall for the keycard, or shoot through the glass and go into the control room & kill the guard in there, plus the one at the end of the hall. I was never able to not trip the wires, even after trying to duck & jump my way through :(

Also, if you turn the alarm and lasers off in the control room (breaking the glass and going into it) that guard seems to dissapear at the end of the hall, so how do you get the access card then?

Solution below:

Leave the alarm and power computer alone.

Go into the laser room, there will be a fuse box just inside the entrance, apply violence. This will cause some of the lasers to wink off and on so you can sneak by.
