Bard abilities?

Post by morf »

I am about to make a skjald but would like to know which of the abilities must be high and which i can forget about. I know int and cha are important but what about the rest.

Here is my roll and adjustment:

Str - 8
Dex - 15
Con - 16
Int - 18
Wis - 16
Cha - 18

What am i supposed to change?
Is wisdom needed more than str?
Is dex needed more than con?
Any help would be nice before i go on..

17 or 15
18 18
16 16
18 18
8 10
18 18

I would go with the next one to pick up the extra lore points
I don't think that the differece between 18 and 17 strenght is that much to worry about

With so low WIS, according to manual, there is noticable probability of failure in spellcasting.
As soon as you're in Atkhala bard shouldn't have dificulties to obtain the belt of strength 19, so there in no need to press on STR really.
There is some reason to keep STR about 15 to wield norningstars, though.
Just my 2g.

You'll get Strength through girdles or gauntlets, so don't worry about that.

Why, besides "roleplaying" reasons, would a Bard want to have 18 Charisma? Does that do anything special for Bards?

Nothing special, as far i know. There is a lower limit to this (as in case of Druids), though, what restricts the number of points might be redistibuted to other stats.
