Stealing

Post by Magrus »

I've just been informed that someone in the last three nights has decided to drink a half liter of my bottle of 100 proof Southern Comfort, without informing me. Now, I can understand the fact people would want to get drunk, but why steal my booze? Not only that, roughly $225 worth of stuff was stolen from me during December, including my cell phone, a new hooded sweatshirt I bought and the wireless internet adapter my landlord let me use to get internet. So, I'm quite irritated at the moment, and of course it's someone in the house I'm living at, or the people they invite over.

I'm just curious, has anyone else had something like this happen to them?

I shared a pad with with a smack addict for a while, and that was no bundle of joy. The lady in question pawned 1500 vinyl albums of mine, and looked me straight in the eyes while she informed me that our place had been broken in to while I was out travelling. I lost hand-made boots, Armani suits and silverware by the bucketload before I figured out she had a problem. Ah, the joys of young love....

I loaned a friend $810 dollars, and my PS2 as he was in a really bad place and wanted to get himself cleaned up and get a job and put his life back together. Thinking I was being a good friend, I loaned him money to see to it he had some until he had a job, and my PS2 just to unwind with from all the stress you know? Sold it for pot and told me someone else stole everything. Uh-huh. Yeah, thats why you've got pot everywhere in your place.

@Moonbiter, were you two dating, or just roommates? That's a really horrible thing to come back to too. 1500 vynals? And your silverware? Thats not right, not at all. Music is like, holy. You don't take the stuff someone eats with and sleeps on either, that's just low. My friend signed a contract, and the only thing I'm leaving him if he doesn't pay me back IS whats in his kitchen and a bed to sleep on and his clothes. The rest gets sold.

The only relationship I had close to that was someone who decided to date me for money. Stupid thing really, I didn't have any and ended quite quickly when she called and told me to go pick up and pay for a ring she put on lay-away at the mall. Luckily I never had a girl I was dating steal from me like that. Cheat and lie and be moronic about it yes, not steal. It's good you didn't marry her though, she might have gotten away with all your stuff legally then.

Luckily my friends have never done that to me nor has anything been stolen from me. I am very lucky in that regard. Btw if you can't trust your room-mates. Kick them out or lock your stuff up. Btw get them to pay for the booze. That is bloody expensive.

The addict mentality is as follows:
Must have high. Will do anything for high. Have high, but stabbed best friend/family member/some random stranger in the back for it. High is gone, reason returns, feels extremely sorry about what he did to best friend/family member/some random stranger and promises self never to do it again. Craving returns. Return to step one.

And, while he's geniunely sorry about what he did to obtain his high, that feeling will only last until his next craving, which unfortunately would come very, very quickly. But, understand that these people will do anything, go anywhere, and say anything to get the money for their next fix. I'm saddened but not entirely suprised by these stories, although in the stories I hear the addict always apologises profusely and "promises never to do it again". The "somebody stole it" excuse is new.

As for thieves, my teacher once told me a story I'll never forget. At one point, she had left a student unsupervised in her office. When she returned, by sheer luck she looked in her purse for a pen and discovered money was missing. A thorough search of the girl revealed that she had pilfered a good hundred dollars from the teacher. When the teacher had arrived at the girl's house, the girl's mother had apparently shaken her and said, if you'll believe it, "Why the hell did you get caught! You're the first in this family to get caught!"

Talk about a bad example. As for me, I like to think that my friends would not steal from me, besides they have but to ask and I'd probably give. I don't put quasi-pseudo-friends in the position to steal from me, and as for "young love", well most of you probably know that I firmly believe that love is not real, and that even if it were it would be a statistical impossibility to meet anyone who loves you and who you love. As such, I have no such problems with females.

Lucky escape there! :)

I must be very lucky indeed, nobody I know have ever stolen anything from me, except for a boy in my class in primary school who stole some small amount of money from a box when I left him unattended in my room.

I had about $200 stolen from me when my roommate let a drug dealer come over for a while.. I've probably done my fair share of awful things to strangers since, so I figure we're even..
