ToB Abilities Question

Post by gecko »

I am not to sure if I remember correctly, but while playing SoA w/ ToB installed. As a cavalier, I leveled up to level 18. At this level I was able to choose an ability. I am not to sure, but I think I was able to choose the summon deva ability. First off, I don't think that agrees with the manual, which states that I am only able to gain the higer level class ability at level 20. Also, if that's true. Are Paladins also allowed to gain the ability to summon a deva, because they have some cleric spells?

Can someone clarify this for me? I want to know that I wasn't seeing things. Otheriwise, I have to wait till I get home. Can a paladin choose a summon deva. And why am I able to choose an ability at level 18? I know for certain that I was at level 17, so there is no way I could have jumped from 17 to 20 that fast.

thanx

I am not sure about the summon deva thing, but I am sure that at lvl 18 Paladins gain a new ability. See page 9 in the ToB book.

Thanks, I was using the table on pg 27 of the ToB book. It appears that they just copied and pasted the fighters stats over.

Thanks Mr. Clark

The manual seems to contradict itself (at least mine does). ON page 9 it lists when classes gain new abilities:
Fighter 20
Ranger 18
Paladin 18
Barbarian 20
Mage/Sorcerer 18
Cleric 22
Monk 22
Druid 15
Thief 24
Bard 24

But the tables starting on page 26 have an asterisk at levels that gain the abilities and they start at 20 for every class.

Page 9 must be the correct one.
